Add a friend problem

So i can play with my mates that are not on my home internet but when i try to play with my housemate who is we cannot, is this a common issue and is there a way to fix this problem?

Hi, I have a problem I can not add a friend to friends on xbox 360, he has xbox one but as other people add it normally add and are on the list of recent added friends, so please reply as soon as possible, ps: I did not block me

 

Please make sure that you and your friend have open NAT's. If one console has a moderate or strict NAT it can cause issues like this.

 

Hi! As mentioned a moderate or strict NAT can cause this issue. Add the ports listed here (depending on which game you play there are possibly more, google something like '[game title] xbox network ports') within your internet routers settings: Xbox One Network Ports | Xbox Live Network Ports

What our Ambassador team member was suggesting is to check the NAT type, the
NAT type, combined with the NAT type of other players, determines whether you can successfully use multiplayer gaming or party chat. Please check out our

NAT type troubleshooter page on our website for further clarification on the matter because this could be the factor preventing the shared gameplay. Give it a shot and let us know if we can further assist in this or any other matter!!

 

Easiest thing is if your router has ipv6 is to switch that on.

So this us what my house mate has said in relation to this discussion, we are both at work atm soi have passed onto him what you guys have said and he has said this

"Fair enough, but that won't help xbox already tell me with its diagnostics that multiplayer is working perfectly. It would be something to do with the game. Might have to wait for the next update"

We suggest the NAT troubleshooter since the problem is only happening with that one friend, if both of the consoles are on the same network the problem could also be that the router doesn't support both consoles running on the same network. Check out the
network settings page and let us know what it says on both so we can better assist!

 

Thanks will have a look into it when we get home, just found it weird that it was only happening with this multiplayer game and none of the others, thanks for the help you guys have been great!

 

We enabled the ipv6 on our router and now it works, thanks for the help and the quick feedback!
