Adaptive Controller set is extremely expensive in the UK - Can it be test for suitablility...

    Hello,

My little brother is disabled and his condition is degenerative, he now struggles to hold an xbox controller and has been unable to play video games for some time now. He bought the adaptive xbox controler in the hope of gaming again, but (disgustingly in my opinion) all the buttons and parts are sold seperate in cost in the high £200's to use. Whilst I'm happy to invest in the gear for him, if it works, I was hoping he could test/trial the gear before we purchases all the parts, so find out if it does actually open the world of gaming back up to him or not.

Would there be means of a store by any chance have the Xbox Accessible kit available that can be tested/demoed?

    :)

Adaptive Controller set is extremely expensive in the UK - Can it be test for suitablility in anyway?

Far as I know, XBox/Microsoft don't sell/produce anything beyond the Adaptive Controller...all the accessories, like buttons etc, are sold by 3rd parties.

Am not sure if there's any way to get demo products...only way I can think of is maybe a disability charity?

As to the product prices, they are expensive true. I guess it depends what accessories your Brother needs....Logitech, for example, do an Adaptibility kit for £90. Still expensive but slightly more reasonable:

Edit: Just been having a look around and this charity may be of some use...apparently, they also offer free in-home assessments to help find the most suitable accessories:

Adaptive Controller set is extremely expensive in the UK - Can it be test for suitablility in anyway?

I've been testing various XAC configurations for a disabled relative. Here are some things I've found helpful for prototyping:

    • Logitech Adaptive Gaming Kit
    • A retail store with multiple joystick options that accepts returns.
      • I had to return a lot of joysticks before I found a functioning, affordable-ish option (Thrustmaster USB Joystick, ~$25)
      • My current preferred joystick attachment is the Ultimarc UltraStick 360 (~$60).
      • Note: The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick does not work. (It's possible the recent XAC firmware update busted a few things.)
My intention is to prototype with the button kit from Logitech (which I've done), and then build an "arcade lap console" with arcade buttons (which I'm working on).

The XAC is the only non-professional option for building a dual-analog controller that I have found. My goal is for the person I am building this for to be able to play Minecraft, which generally expects two movement control inputs: one for player walk/strafe and one for player look/turn.

There are many existing arcade lap controllers that support one joystick for PC, XBox, PlayStation, and Switch. These controllers are called a "fight stick" and are designed to appeal to fighting game enthusiasts. (Amazon.com : fight stick) If any of these is adequate, I'd encourage picking up one of these instead of the XAC+accessories because the fight stick should work right out of the box.

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

Unfortunately there isn't one I can recommend. But I believe if you can check with your local retailers, you should be able to get one that could let you test the device before parting with it.

    Hope this helps

Questions au sujet de l'accesoire "Xbox Adaptive controler" . [Translation-Questions about the "Xbox Adaptive Controller" accessory.]

    Hi Thomas,

    Yes! The
    Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick
is compatible with the Xbox Adaptive Controller when plugged into one of the USB ports on the controller. The left input is for the left thumbstick actions and the right input is for the
right thumbstick actions. The buttons on the joystick are set to specific buttons by default but you can customize your button setup through the Xbox Accessories app. I'm going to provide you with all of the information I think you may find useful for the
Xbox Adaptive Controller and there is plenty more!

    I hope this helps!
