Adaptive controller lost power and will not charge

My son loves to play on his xbox. He has cerebral palsy and he plays daily using his adaptive controller. His controller will not charge up. He has drool issues so we don’t know if moisture is the problem but we need help trying to get the controller to turn back on. He is on his second controller and we can’t continue to buy a new one every few months. Desperate for some advice.

    :)

Maybe fashion a plastic cover for it? A simple box type design should protect the top because it’s just those big buttons, no nuanced access is needed right?

Elite controller no longer works with chat pad unless power cable is inserted.

Its the Elite controller. I've just tried an audio adapter and that only works if the power cable is connected no matter what battery charged or not.

how do i play pc games with xbox 360 controller

You would need the 360 wireless adapter. or a wired usb controller

The charging cable is for power only and will not work to connect via USB

Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows

Thanks for the feedback.. A little more detail:

My wireless adapter is always attached to my PC. (I don't have an XboxOne). It's after a power cycle where the sync is completely lost. I have to unplug and reinsert the adapter for it to work, so it seems as if the PC "forgot" the adapter was even attached
    after a power cycle.

So, considering I always have the adapter attached to my PC, and that I only use my controller on my PC, the normal behavior should be:

    1) I turn on my PC and it gets to the Windows 10 desktop

    2) Turn on the controller

    3) The controller should automatically sync with the adapter.

    But unfortunately that doesn't happen...

    Adaptive Controller power adapter.

    I recommend contacting
    Xbox Customer Support
. Also this controller is a very recently released product so some regions may not be fully supported at this time.

    Thanks for reaching out
