Adaptive controller + device to take over left stick

Since my left fingers don’t work well, I’ve been putting velcro on the left side of the controller handle and thumb-stick, then wearing a fuzzy glove w/fingers of glove cut off, except foot the thumb. I would then use my right functional wrist and palm to tilt the entire controller in various directions, thereby moving the left stick. I can click down to run but it’s pretty much impossible for me to strafe, slide and shoot at same time(in Battlefield) or walk in any direction other then forwards or backwards. Since I have the adaptive controller, I got the adaptive thumb-stick but for some reason, Xbox/Microsoft didn’t add a functional clicking action to the thumb-stick( if I recall correctly). I was thinking about getting this from Amazon-

    MANO MAX 620U

And hook it into the left usb input of the adaptive controller. I could then trace on the trackpad w/my foot where/how I want to move and click down when I wanted to slide or run in a game. Is there any reason why this won’t work and if it will not work, are there options like this product that will work simply by plugging into the left usb input( or into a separate device thst will encode the signals properly, then plug into the left usb input)? Thanks for the help to those who reply. I’m just trying to figure a way to move at at least 70% of my pre-crippled gaming life many a years back. I’m shocked that a company or Microsoft hasn’t invested into this technology because I’m assuming the biggest hurdle to gaming, in terms of disabilities that prevent playing at a competitive level, are loss of a hand/arm during the wars, or loss of function in a limb due to TBI. I suppose there’s no company that wants to invest to make the limited lives better for those of us who were short changed in life in some way. A touch pad testing surface is ideal because the adaptive thumb-stick is pretty hard to use with your toe, as the big toe doesn’t have a functional joint, like the thumb to move, so you’re using your ankle for movement anyways, except trying to get your toe to stay on the head of the stick is problematic. I plan to build a 90 degree right triangle, take a standard Series X controller, cut the right stick down to the base as much as possible, put the stick head near the base & my foot will rest on the decline & should fit nicely on the head of the left stick. Sad Xbox doesn’t invest into real solutions. Who, as an adult, wants to play with a partner controlling one side of the controls, while you do the other. Give me an engineer team and I’ll show them how to design it so 1 person can. playing alone.

    :)

Adaptive controller + device to take over left stick

I am fairly certain that won't work with the XAC as it is not a HID-Compliant device...most devices designed for Windows won't work due to the drivers etc necessary to run it

As to Microsoft not investing, my guess is money...if they designed a product for one particular need, then they would need to design one for every individual need else being sued for discrimination. The simplest solution was bringing out the XAC and leaving everything else to other companies better equipped to design such products. Not making excuses and I may be wrong

For your needs, You would likely be better looking at something like this:

Someone recently mentioned this particular one is not that good but it gives you an idea

    Xbox Adaptive Controller set up

Sorry, asking again if there’s a way to set the adaptive joystick up so that when I click the adaptive joystick, the left thumb stick ( which it is plugged into the left usb port) will act as if I clicked the left thumb stick. I saw something in settings
to set as shift but am not sure what that is. So if anyone knows how to set the adaptive joystick to click the left thumb stick, please let me in on the secret. They really left a lot of options out. They obviously didn’t work close with people with disabilities,
as why would you want a joystick that doesn’t function exactly as the thumb stick you’re replacing/taking over.

    Xbox Adaptive Controller set up

Ok, so I finally have everything set up, except one thing- I have the thumb stick joystick adapter plugged into the left usb port of the pad. The controller functions as it should, except when I click the adaptive thumb stick, it does not function to
click the left thumb stick, which it controls. Is there a way to do this, or must I find another way to click the left thumb stick?

    Adaptive thumbstick

    Hi WARRIOR I M,

So looking at the Xbox Adaptive Controller, there is left stick and right stick button click options on the top row (there is an arrow pointing down next to the image)

I would suggest you take a look at the Xbox Accessories app and see if you can assign the clicking button on the left stick to the USB port. It may be just that you need to configure the Adaptive Controller and tell it what you need it to do.

Hope this helps and let us know how you get on :)
