Adapter update ??

Will the headset adapter be updated for surround sound ? I feel totally duped into buying a surround sound headset for it to be throttled with a stereo adapter! Will it be updated in future? And approx when?

Yup, its just for the new adapter. You actually will not be able to get the controller update unless the controller is plugged in to the console and the adapter plugged into the controller.

Personally I don't know. My XO4 are apparently stereo, and I have no issue with them in terms of quality. Is there a huge difference between the two in terms of playback? I'm confused.

 

Sound difference is game changer for fps shooter games. Being able to tell footsteps direction above, below,front behind is a must for a competitive gamer. The stereo version is just left or right or both. Until you've tried a good surround sound its hard
to explain its vastly superior. But an update on this topic.... I contacted support and was told that an update is being developed but there is no ETA. I'll put off getting the TB stealth 500x for now!

 

Surround sound headsets dont have a feed through the adapter as far as I am aware, the adapter is needed for chat isnt it. I use TB XP500s 7:1 and they work just fine without any adapter as the feed comes from the transmitter which takes its output from
the optical port on the One unit for game sound.

Plus aren't the new Stealth TB's totally wireless in which case I didn't think you would need the adapter anyway?

 

I have turtle beach XO seven. Power, sound and chat are all through the adapter. The sound I believe is virtual and all though the quality is OK the surround is dreadful.

 

That is a shame, they look good. I see they don't have a separate amp to do the surround mix. I assume you plug the whole thing in to the chat adapter?

To OP if surround sound is so important to you (game changer) then buy a decent headset that gets it audio from the optical port for game audio and not through a stereo jack on an adaptor.

I have the Steel series wireless H and they are fantastic, work totally wireless on ps4 but needs a cable to the Xone adaptor for chat, comes with 2 batteries with a base station for charging and each battery has 20 hour of gaming before needs charging.

 

That's what one of the controller updates is for.

That's why your Turtle beaches come with the controller to USB adaptor.

I bought mine so I could hear where the Alien is in "Alien: Isolation".

Before I only knew if it was left or right. Now I know if it's up or down or whereabouts in a room.

So your XO 7's should work fine.
