I find the activity feed annoying. lol Most in the thread said they didn't use it as I recall... I'm not re-reading it.

I've exactly the same problems and its really annoying. I like the activity feed but I wish it would be a little bit more reliable.

 

I really like the new feed. The ability to like, share and comment on things in the feed is great. Being able to post a text-based entry to your feed is a double-edged sword of course, as some people will use it to say "Anyone fancy playing Titanfall at
9PM tonight?" (which is good) and others will use it to post up random nonsense, but overall I think it's a considerable improvement.

The only real negative, IMO, is that it's almost like Facebook for the Xbox in a way, yet it's confined to a fairly thin column instead of being full screen. I'm sure it'll evolve more over time.

 

You are not alone. I instantly hated this when I noticed it yesterday. On top of all the messags, I get a notification for each one. I will never have Facebook and have no interest in Twitter, so I do NOT want this for my xboxlive experience. I need to
find a way to remove or hide this.

 

Wait you get notification I don't, I get alerts when I go to my friends list.

 

I am not sure if it is notifications or alerts. I have only had the X1 about a week. I just know there were a bunch of numbers in a box so I went to them and it was a fair amount of garbage. "nice video", "good job", "people posting about their own videos",
and other crap. I don't have and never will have Facebook or twitter or any other social media just for that reason.

Bottom line, is there a way to hide or block this? I have people (followers??) I don't even know posting on these things. xbox.com is currently having issues so I currently cant even change any of these privacy settings from this from my computer.

 

^^No way to hide them unless you make your profile private where no one can see anything. Not sure that will even stop it. Sounds like you have a serious case of OCD though.

 

OCD is an understatement. This "activity feed" was also on the PS3. It was much easier to ignore on that system. I will keep trying to dig into the settings and privacy and see how much of this I can block.

I had everyone blocked besides friends on the 360. Need to get the same setup for the X1. Would do it right now but xbox.com is having way too many profile issues.

 

At least its help me remove people who post tripe on it

 

Your preferences carry over. Even people you have blocked carry over to xbox one.

 

No the preferences or privacy settings do not carry over from the 360. In fact I just finally got access to my X1 preferences and made quite a few changes. Still no way to block this stuff BUT I was able to make some setting changes that might help. The
most important was to allow friends only to see my info. That will hopefully help. It defaulted to "everyone". There were a couple other settings I changed to. Hopefully that helps. Otherwise I can also start "blocking" people that spam that section.

I don't necessarily hate it, but also don't see a use for it. Keep it on facebook/twitter, and not my Xbox One.

I just want my motto back.

 

It is honestly one of THE last features I ever wanted to see on live. Too much like the PS3.
