I am aware that the keys are a once off use. I attempted to load the purchased keys for my profile and it would not load. Instead of wasting the purchase my son then loaded it onto his profile. There was no attempt to use the key twice. The intention was
to load it onto my gamer profile on the Xbox. As I did not have my LIVE ID associated to the gamer profile on the Xbox I asked my son to log on with his LIVE account on the XBOX and download keys.

I only play locally on the Xbox and as such had no need for a LIVE ID on my profile. The only reason I added a LIVE ID was to purchase the keys and use them on my individual profile.

On the Xbox we have three profiles

1. My son and from the beginning his LIVE ID associated to this gamer profile

2. My profile which did not have a Live account associated to it until a week agao when I added one.

3. My son's girlfriend which does not have a LIVE ID.

Only after I could not use the keys purchased online through my son's LIVE ID on the same console, I then added my own LIVE account to the profile on the Xbox.

Since then we have not been able to load ANY keys on ANY profile at all. My son still has an active key that he had not yet assigned and it will not allow him to use it.

My assumption is that even though Microsoft states that all profiles on a single console can use individual LIVE IDs for each profile, MAGIC is getting confused and as such is blocking both accounts now.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't quite know what you mean by the PC being old or new, that shouldn't matter either way. If you purchased the game via a retail disc when you first redeemed the key it should have been redeemed to a Windows Live ID account.

If your trying to now use another Windows Live ID than the one you used before you will not be able to play the game as the game would be registered to another Windows Live ID. Same goes with DLC, if you've redeemed the codes when you were on another PC using
another Windows Live ID it would not be possible to redeem the same content again.

So to review, when you redeem a key on a specific Windows Live ID, you need to use that same Windows Live ID for all future content in relation to that game as well as the game on a re-install. When you stop using a PC you should also uninstall the game on
that PC as the activation key (redemption key) can only be active on 1 account / 1 PC at a time.

To activate your game on Games for Windows LIVE you first need to log in With your Microsoft Account (The Gamertag you signed into Xbox.com with).

To sign in, load Fallout 3 and press the Home key to access the LIVE interface. Click 'sign in' and log in with your LIVE ID. If all goes well your account will then be downloaded. After this is done, you will then be prompted to insert your game serial.

To find your serial key on Steam: Go to your Steam library, find your game in the list, right click and select 'View CD Key'. Either write the key down or press 'Copy to Clipboard'.

You can then either enter the key manually when prompted or press Ctrl+V to paste the key into the application.

You are incorrect on this. The GFWL Marketplace was retired in 2013 not Key Activations to connect to LIVE. The keys that were obtained through the GFWL MP, CD Keys and Steam have always still worked beyond that. This issue also occurred in 2020 which microsoft promptly fixed.

The keys need to be able to be activated to be able to sign into LIVE on GFWL Games and we need microsoft to investigate and fix this issue so that we can continue to play our purchased games
