Activate XBOX 360 GamerTag on new XBOX ONE

Went through the XBOX ONE install and was provided a new gamer tag since I didn't have my Microsoft password to link the account initially. I found the password but now I log onto my Microsoft account only to find my new gamer tag with no reference to my
old XBOX 360 gamer tag. Any idea how I can get that back AND link to my new XBOX ONE?

Live Account over 360 and Xbox One

Has it been stated anywhere how it's going to work if you move to Xbox One & keep your 360 ?

Will you still be able to log into Live with your gamertag on both machines (ie swapping between the two systems at will) or will your gamertag be stuck on the Xbox One ??Click to expand...

Yes you can login on both and if you really wish you could connect your Xbox 360 to the Xbox One to get the new UI and features

Hi there, sounds like you actually used the wrong email when setting up the Xbox One because if you used the same email and password as you do on the 360 it would be the same gamertag, there is no linking, it's just automatic, much like how we sign onto
this website with the same email and password.

The fastest way to confirm you're using the correct email is to log back onto the 360 and check up the top right hand corner where your email should flash up every so often. If not, you can use the following link to help:

The new XBOX Live! 360 Service has been active since 2005.. So the Gamertag [2007], could be still active as a Silver Subscription & you won't be able to get it, as of yet... It could be a offline Gamertag etc..

If you are referring to a Xbox classic account, you can't recover one of those, you should migrated this accounts to 360, there was a process for that not currently available, and you mentioned you are seeing the Gamertag currently active, a few years back Xbox released inactive Gamertags for others to take, that's probably why you are seeing it active

Actually it is impossible in Xbox ONE move a gamertag from one MSA to another MSA. This action only can do in Xbox 360 platform.

This is because Xbox ONE used an independent platform than Xbox 360 and this new platform not allows this change because Microsoft says that this action can have security issues to customers.

So, the solution to do this action is change your gamertag follow this guide in a Xbox 360 console and then use your new MSA with your gamertag in Xbox ONE console:

@Pass that stuff, the code would have shown up on your 360. How it works is the code would have to be activated on an Xbox One before July 31st for it to work, and it seems to be tied to the same gamertag used on the Xbox 360 the promo appeared on. Also,
the $75 credit has an expiration date of 1 year after its activation
