    Alright, let’s say you buy a brand new elite controller for 189 dollars. It arrives and every thing is great. Only after a few months of use the grips fall off. You look at the warranty and it says 90 days. You’ve had it for four months at this point.
    What would you do

    I'd call the support up and see if there was anything for it, warranty, fixes, ect.

    Well, when I did that I was told that my warranty had expired and there was nothing to be done. Maybe it was because the majority of users of the elite controller hadn’t had time for their grips to fall off, as it was a new thing then. Now it’s a known
    problem that affects most users so the warranty has gone from 90 days to a “yearish” as Michael stated.

    So I had my controller sitting in the closet for the past couple years thinking I was stuck with a 189 dollar paper weight and decide to search up elite controller grip problem and found that it was happening to just about everyone. If I had known that
    my warranty would have good for longer once a bunch of problems arose I would have contacted you guys much sooner.

    I was told there was nothing to be done 4 Months after getting the control but would’ve gotten a replacement if I contacted you a few months after that? That doesn’t sound fair to me

    I see. Sadly while I want to replace the controller for you, the previous agent would be correct, if the elite controller is over a year after the purchase date, we don't have the ability to process a free exchange or repair of it sadly.

    Sadly there wouldn't be any one that has that capability or would be able to lift that sadly.

    I would be the supervisor, sadly though none of us have the ability to change that. You can however request that a extended warranty be made readily available or a longer standard warranty over at uservoice.xbox.com.
    I understand that it's a lot money, but at the time we simply don't have the means to make a exception.

    From what I see at the time you initially spoke to support the controller was out of warranty, the problem is by your own words you've put it away "a couple" of years - reality is that at that time you're a long ways down the line. There's nothing any
    of us can do about it & in all honesty I think it's a bit unreasonable looking for a solution a couple of years later otherwise everyone would be looking for exceptions made for them.

    You only need to report them once. As long as you reported them, the enforcement team will investigate and take the appropriate action. It's not always immediate and you won't always be told when action is taken. So there is no way for you to know for sure when action is taken.

    You wouldn't receive a message. If enforcement found substantial evidence from the report they would message the person who had action taken on their account.

    You may receive a Thank You message, but that is very rare and unlikely.
