Acid leaked on my Xbox 360 controller

Id just buy a new remote gamestop always has pre owned ones to their a lil cheaper

I would say be very careful, make sure to clean it up properly and if the acid has leaked into the controller you may need a replacement. You should be able to find a few guides on how to clean up an alkaline battery leak

Most of the time, cleaning up the contacts will save the device. I have been in the games business, used to own and operate a games and collectibles shop. I would acquire a lot of things with these issues, and while most thought of them as useless, I was
able to breath new life into them all with only a little TLC.

If the damage was severe, you will likely need to replace the battery back where you place the batteries. You will need a tooth brush and some basic supplies for the controller.

Wear safety goggles. You dont want to misplace battery acid in your eye. With safety gear on, lightly wet the brush of the tooth brush with water, and brush gently over a waste basket to dislodge most of the debris. Once done, you should be left with the
discolored contacts. Now, dip in a little rubbing alcohol and brush the contacts more directly, still gentle but a bit firmer than your first pass. With a small piece of very fine sandpaper or a tack if you dont have the sandpaper, gently pluck and scrub the
contacts and springs. With the tack or your nail, gently pull up the springs if they were forced into a depressed state to restore them to height. If they will not hold this on their own, then simply take a small piece of folded foil and pack it towards the
bottom of the spring, ideally in-between the spring to give it bounce. If done right, the corrosion should be gone, and if it didnt eat through the springs or contacts, the connection should be restored. The item should be dry, so if so, test with fresh batteries.

Agreed with post above, make sure to clean the acid properly.

That's usually caused in badly manufactured batteries or by batteries that were left in the controller to long.

If there were batteries in the case, you can do a search online for how to clean up an Alkaline battery leak. You want to be very careful when cleaning up any battery leak and wear safety glasses. I've had this happen to a few flashlights that I forgot batteries
were left in them. If I caught the problem early, the light was saved, if not it was replaced.

Depending on how bad the leak is, you'll most likely want to replace the controller.
