Achivements Language turned Japanese

In Metal Gear Solid HD collection, my Peace Walker Achivements have turned into Japanese writing. Only in Peace Walker, not the other MGS games.

This actually happened several years ago on the 360, they was in English, and after I finished the main story, and starting trying to get all/more achivements they suddenly turned Japanese, I tried searching on the net, resetting Xbox, deleting cache, changing
Language etc. nothing worked, so I kind off lost interest in the game, it was kind of a deal breaker.. The game is still fun, but it is so irritating that it overshadows the gameplay.. It is really frustrating, it is one of my favorite Games ever!

Now that it is backwards compatible on Xbox One, I installed it, and voila the Achivements are still in Japanese (the old ones I already have unlocked are of course still with my Gamertag/Account..)

When I logged in here on the Xbox forum, and checking my Achivements here on the Computer, guess what? They are in japanese!

They WAS in English like all the other games, but suddenly turned into Japanese or Asian atleast, I dont know, to me they look Japanese. I have seen several others have this issue when searching the web, but not seen any answers, I tried searching here for
an answer, but I found nothing. Just generic "just change your language" answers..

I live in Norway, the console have always been in English. Nothing is imported.

It was in English, then suddenly turned into Japanese, no other game is in Japanese, the game language and everything is in English, it is ONLY the achivements.

Is there any solution to this? I would really appreciate an solution to this.

Is it your console language settings in Japanese or your actual XBL Account in Japanese?

 

Change language for Backwards compatible games?

So my dominant language is Japanese, So all my Xbox one games are in Japanese but all my 360 games are still in English. Is their any way to change this option? I have checked the language for my Xbox one and it is in Japanese as well as Location but all
my 360 games still remain in English.

That is a very strange change for sure.

Could you share some photos of where you are seeing this so we can get a better idea of exactly what is going on?

Do you see the same thing on the console, the app, and on your
profile?

Is your copy of the collection digital and have you have a chance to test it with another profile and on another console such as a friend's?

It is a Real Disc Copy, I was going to try a new profile, but have not done it yet. I do not have an xbox app.

The achievements for Peace Walker is in Japanese writing on my 360, my One and on my profile here on the internet site.

I am gonna try changing my location and stuff on the One now.

Let's definitely test another profile as soon as possible so we can determine if the issue is related to the game disc itself or not.

Well, I tried making a new account on my Xbox One, no difference, still in Japanese. I actually remember I did that on my 360 years ago, with no succes there either.

I dont think I have any possibility to try it on another console, in a good while atleast.

And Holy Macaroni, now I have another Microsoft account, that seems impossible to delete, but that is another story.

 

I changed location and language to UK, nothing. Changed it to Norwegian etc. Nothing changes.

I deleted the game and downloaded it instead of installing it from Disc, atleast I think it was installed from the Disc, unless it automatically downloads either way. No change.

Anyway, if I try it on another console, the Achivements would probably be in English, since it was in English when I started playing the game, that is guaranteed! Because I 100% remember looking at the achivements and trying to get them, and of course the
Achivements that pop up in a normal play through, on the 360 I always checked what I unlocked, since that was so easy and fast to check on the 360. I remember 100% that it suddenly was in Japanese when I checked them at one time.

I went into the profile of other people that had played the game, on those profiles the Achivements was also in Japanese. So some weird region thing must have happened when I maybe unlocked one of the achivements, or played part of the game. And made my
Xbox believe I was Japanese or something.

On the cover of the game it states that it is made in EU, KONAMI adresse to Germany and KONAMI-EUROPE.com

 

Alrighty, in this case let's try one more thing.

Let's
factory reset the Xbox One console, be sure to not pick keep games and apps. Hopefully the issue is something that the newer console changed and we can get that properly reset with the restore.

This should in turn reset the account that signs into it.

 

The issue started on the Xbox 360. Sometime after I finished the main story all the Achivements suddenly turned Japanese. This is not something that happened on the Xbox One. The issue happened before I owned an Xbox One, the Achivements
for Peace Walker just continues to show up as Japanese on my Xbox One.

If I factory reset, I have just installed all my games on a new Hard Drive, then I must install all of my Games again? That would take several days probably...

Can I just dismount my hard drive, then reset the console and see if it fixes it.

If it does or does not fix it, I can put my Hard Drive back and then I can use my games and saves that is there again?

If I have to lose all my saves and data on all games, that is a bit much.

But I dont think it will change anything, since it is in Japanese Language on my Xbox One, and my Xbox One got all my Gamertag info from Xbox Live when I first started it up.

I bought my Xbox One 7th March 2014, I guess there possibily could be some overlapping of playing both Xbox One and 360.

And it may have caused some weird issue, where my two Gamertag universes colided, had an discussion, and created some weird time paradox where I suddenly ended up as Japanese.... I am glad it did not create a time paradox, where the result ended up as a
chain reaction that could have unraveled the very fabric of the spacetime continuum and destroy the entire universe!

I think I had to have USA or UK as an region when it was new, since Norway still was not available, so I guess that can have made som issues.

 

Norway is a supported region so everything should work properly if your account and console are set to Norway.

Unfortunately, changing your region to a location you are not located in can have negative affects on the console and account and may have indeed caused an issue with the profile.

We would recommend trying the reset, selecting keep games and apps when doing so will prevent the need to reinstall your games.

 

I have now reset the console, I kept the games, no difference, Peace Walker Achivements are still in Japanese. This time the Xbox did not want me to install the Kinect stuff on the initial setup, have Kinect been totally abandoned? (Mine is unused though..)

And just to Clarify, not to argue or anything like that:

No, initially, Norway was NOT an supported region when the Xbox One first launched, it was not supported until around maybe a year later than the first Regions that got Xbox One first. I know that if you search now Norway is on the list of the 21 countrys
that was supposed to be supported initially, but it was changed, together with several others. According to the internet it did not come until 5th September 2014 here in the North. So late 2014 then.

That is the reason I had to use UK or USA as my Region/Location at first in 2014, I basically had no choice.

 

In this case, let's have you reach out to
Konami support to report the issue.

Hopefully they are aware and looking into another update but best to reach out and ensure they know.
