Achievements randomly unlocking for no reason or disappearing

I didn't know where to post this, but decided to post it here since I have experienced this issue on the Xbox One.

Long story short, I have been experiencing a number of achievement-related issues since January of 2015. For starters, while I was playing Fifa 14 (One version), a notification randomly showed up saying I unlocked an achievement for winning a trophy in Seasons.
I don't know how this is even possible as I have only played a handful of Seasons games, all of which were either draws or losses. There's virtually no way I could have won a trophy.

Several days later, I started Madden 25 and on the main menu I instantly recieved an acheivement notification saying I won a MUT superbowl without any input on my part. Again, completely impossible since I hadn't even made it to the playoffs, much less unlocked
the playoffs achievement.

Concerned about this, I immediately contacted Microsoft Customer Support. They told me to delete my profile and redownload it (which I did), but this had no effect. They concluded it was a bug due to the maintenance being done on Xbox Live, and assured me
that it would fix itself after the upgrade was done.

It is now the beginning of March, and not only are the incorrectly unlocked acheivements still on my gamertag, but I am now having a handful of other issues. Some acheivements are disapearing (for the Xbox One games), some friends on my friends list are
not viewable on the xbox 360, I may have lost money making a transaction on the marketplace and didn't get what I paid for, and sometimes I am unable to download games I previously purchased. I'm more upset about the wrong acheivements than anything else,
but right now I am not only feeling hopeless, but also lied to. And perhaps a bit frustrated.

Could anybody lend advice or a solution to this problem?

Achievements problem

i have been unlocking achievements and they have not been showing up in my gamer score and games i have played are disappearing off my played played list while playing.

I definitely understand how you feel since your experiencing a pretty unique issue. I hope I can be of some help.

Now as far as achievements go for Xbox One, they're all cloud based. Meaning all our saved data is synced to the cloud and is updated every time we connect to xbox live. That said, there can only be a couple of reason thats could be causing your achievement
Issues. a

1. You may be experiencing unauthorized access to your account. This would be easily noticed, since the console will notify you saying that it signed out from somewhere else. Still a possibility that some could be using your account without your knowledge.

2. Its possible that this is a software/firmware issue with the console to where your achievements aren't unlocking correctly. This is very unlikely as this would affect all your games rather than a few. (this wouldn't explained the issues with your friend
on 360 or your billing issue with transactions)

3. It might be an issue with EA. Going off your post the 2 games your encountering the issue are from that developer. This is the least possible cause.

I would recommending performing a factory reset on your console. This will re download the system updates and could fix any software issues the console may have. Deleting and re downloading your profile makes sure the issue isn't profile specific. As far
as the unauthorized access, consider resetting your password and making sure your security information is correct. Also, keep in mind that xbox.com can show you your achievements so please look through it to make sure that the achievements you know you unlocked
are there. There could be some pattern.

Thanks for replying StarKi113R13, and forgive me if I lost my temper a bit in the first post.

I tried restoring my Xbox One to its factory setting including installing all updates, but I'm afraid that didn't work. The wrongly add achievements are still showing up both on the console and on Xbox.com. I'm suspecting this may be a problem with my account
itself. I'll be sure to reset my password and check my security information in due time, but to be honest, I'm feeling quite hopeless at the moment.

Are there any other solutions that I could try?

 

Hey there, Brain is ToaSty! This is definitely an odd one, and I hope that we can get some answers here.

Since your profile is set to private, I can't see your achievements. However, both FIFA 14 and Madden 25 are on the Xbox 360. I'm wondering if you might have earned these achievements on your 360 if you own them there? This would explain the achievements
popping on the Xbox One, because they sync like that for some games.

Achievements disappearing on the Xbox 360 for Xbox One titles is a known issue. To resolve that, simply earn another achievement on your Xbox 360. This will correctly recalculate your gamerscore and show the Xbox One achievements in there. While on the 360,
you cannot see your Xbox One achievements individually.

And lastly, if you added those friends on the Xbox One, you will not see them show up on your Xbox 360. That is because there is a different system for adding friends on the Xbox One that makes it so you cannot see them on your Xbox 360. If you add them
on your 360 or xbox.com, they will need to approve you via another 360 or xbox.com for them to show up on your account on your 360.

Thanks Misses Quinzel. I know it's a strange situation, but I'm thankful that you're trying to help. I didn't know the about the different friend systems between the two consoles until you told me, but I suppose it makes sense now.

Anyway, I have just now set my profile to show achievements so you should be able to see my achievements (if not, please let me know), including my FIFA 14 and Madden 25, both of which are the Xbox One version.

To be specific, the achievement for FIFA 14 that randomly unlocked for no reason is "Bling Bling", timestamped 1/19/2015, and worth 100g. As for Madden 25, there were two wrongly unlocked achievements that I'm aware of: "Complete the Journey" and "Beginning
the Journey" for 35g and 10g, respectively. Both were timestamped for 1/25/2015.

This is how I see it on both the Xbox One console and on Xbox.com. As you can tell, this happened quite a long time ago, and it happened while I was merely browsing the in-game menus when the notification for the FIFA 14 achievement came up. Some days later,
the same thing happened for the two Madden 25 achievements while I was doing nothing more than scrolling through the menus.

The main reason it upsets me is that I want to be able to earn my achievements by some work on my part, instead of simply receiving them for no reason other than a glitch or programming malfunction. It makes me feel like I've been (falsely) tainted as a
cheater, even though I didn't intentionally do anything wrong. I don't suppose there would be some way for someone (either Microsoft or EA) to wipe those specific achievements away from my account whilst subtracting the gamerscore I earned from them? I don't
know if it's possible, but honestly I don't know what to do. I don't want people thinking that I hack achievements or something like that.

As for the achievements that have been disappearing, they have happened only on EA MMA for Xbox One. If you take a look, you can probably see what I mean: it shows (at least to me) that I have a handful of achievements relating to the career mode, but there's
an achievement called "First Blood" for winning a first career fight and it's still locked! I'm pretty sure it's virtually impossible to miss that one and still get the others.

The whole thing has got me confused. I really hope this is fixable, somehow.

 

I'll be honest, this is a weird one!

I checked out all of your achievements and see the same dates as you. I do request that we keep your achievements set to public, only while we're working together. Once we have solved the mystery, then I won't need to keep an eye on them on my eye via the
website. This is totally optional, though! I'm not demanding they stay public.

For First Blood, which I believe is actually in EA Sports UFC (I couldn't find EA MMA), I suggest attempting that achievement again for me. To do that, we will need to delete your saved data, but only temporarily! You can do this by highlighting
EA Sports UFC on your console, hitting your Menu button, and selecting Manage game. In there, you will see save data to the right. You will be given 2 options to delete, I want to make sure you Delete from console
only. This way, when we launch the game while online again, your data will sync.

Now, before you launch the game again, please set your console in
offline mode, and disconnect it from the internet. This will keep items from syncing immediately. After that, you should be able to launch up the game and attempt the achievement. Once you see it earned on your console, connect up to the internet again,
and let me know if that specific achievement syncs up. You're all set there if it does!

For the achievements you have earned without earning them appropriately, I'm wondering something. Could you please send me an image of what the progress looks like for those 3 in your Achievement App? What I want to see is the Achievement App snapped while
in either of those games, and the progress on the achievements that you did not earn showing. Hopefully this will help with some answers on my end.

Ok, I followed your steps; Deleting the data from console, disconnecting from the internet completely, earning the achievement and then connecting again. I do see the achievement "First Blood" on my profile now and it's timestamped 3/7/2015. It did get my
missing achievement back but it still appears awkward since this one is timestamped as my most recent one, whereas all the other career achievements appear to have been unlocked much longer ago. They look out of sequence than if I had unlocked them normally,
so to speak.

About the pictures, I didn't quite understand what you meant by progress (sorry, I'm a bit new to this whole thing). Did you mean you wanted pictures of the achievements in the Achievement App with the timestamps showing (by pressing A once an achievement
is highlighted), or to having the number of unlocked/still locked achievements in the App?

 

Oh, good! Glad we got your First Blood unlocked for you! It will look a little odd, but I promise that it all looks legit on our side. And if it comes down to it, you have this thread to prove that I had you do troubleshooting steps that caused that.

As for the other achievements, I mean the first way you explained. It should show the progress, along with the timestamp. This will help me get a clear picture as to what is going on.

Basically, it confirms what I thought was going on, so I will see if I can explain it. The achievements unlock in our system once the game has told us that the mandatory requirements have been sent up. We do not unlock achievements, so we would not be able
to reset that for you. However, I can confirm that while you have earned these, nothing is showing on our end that would cause any flags. I've made sure to pass this all along to the appropriate teams and they have assured me of this.

This may be a case of a bug in the titles. For the Complete the Journey achievement in Madden 25, it seems that there is a

known issue that after you win your first season game, this achievement will pop for you. So that explains that one! For Beginning the Journey, it seems this is so easy that

a draw will get you this win. Maybe that explains what happened? And they may have appeared while just scrolling through the menus because that is when the game told us that it had officially been unlocked. If you had done this earlier, there may have been
a delay in that.

For Bling, Bling, this one is beyond me. It does look like
someone got this by being defeated, and then looking at the guy's profile (you will need to look at the one other solution offered for that user's explanation). Seems to me like this one might be a game title bug as well.

While the case isn't fully solved, I believe that you are fully set! Please let me know if you have further questions, and I will do my best to get the answer you are looking for.

 

Thanks for all the help Misses Quinzel. I'm still a little nervous somebody will take a look at my profile, notice the achievements seem to be suspicious, and either file a complaint or harass me about it. But I'll take your word for it that it's alright
for the time being. Thanks to StarKi113R13 for the advice as well.

I've been having this issue a lot here lately. Started with GTA V, went online and it gave me the level 50 and level 100 achievements and at the time I was level 48. Then yesterday, I left my console on to update some games while I went out, when I came
back I had 7 achievements for rocket league. And just now, at 1:00 pm, Monday, July 25th, I'm watching Funimation and unlocked yet another rocket league achievement... Please tell me how to fix this, I'm getting worried when I get achievements for not playing
games
