    Achievement language vs console settings


    There is an issue with several Xbox One games as to the achievement language. I've read in several forum posts that the IP address of the console is being used to choose the "correct" language. That isn't really the best way to go about that...

    I live in Belgium, 60% of it's population is Dutch speaking, 40% French and although my home is close to the border with the Netherlands, I still get achievements of several (big budget) games in French. Basically that's is just offensive... The region and
    language is chosen by the gamer and set in it's console (e.g. mine is Dutch/Belgium), why isn't that setting being used? And if the achievements aren 't translated in that language, why not allow the gamers themselves to choose a fallback language or just
    use plain English.

    I've never had this issue on my 360, but on my One, these are the titles I got, with the language that the achievements show up in (the same applies to the xbox website):

    * Halo: The Master Chief Collection : French

    * Dance Central Spotlight : Dutch

    * Destiny : French

    * Chariot : French

    * Forza Motorsport 5 : Dutch

    * Minecraft: Xbox One Edition : Dutch

    * Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition : French

    On my 360:

    * Halo 4 : English

    * Diablo III : English

    * Need for Speed™ Hot Pursuit : English

    * Blur : English

    * TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 : English

    * GTA V : English

    * Assassin's Creed II : English

    * Halo: Reach : English

    * Skyrim : English

    * GTA IV : English

    * Forza Motorsport 3 : English

    * ... : English

    I really hope this can be fixed and prevented in the future, achievements are one of the fun things about Xbox, but not like this.

    Achievements are in the wrong language!

    Achievement languages are based on your IP location on the Xbox One for some reason. The locale setting on your console won't change the achievements language.

    It has been submitted to feedback.xbox.com but who knows if/when Microsoft will address that particular issue.

    Hey there, the reason it wasn't an issue on the 360 was because it had to do with the console settings and no your locale or whatever is happening right now. You're just going to have to sit tight until there's a fix.

    Achievements Language

    I really hope the dev team address this issue in next update. Everything was fine before the latest update. Achievement listing was always consistent with console's language setting. Even if you messed up, you could always correct it by downloading your
    profile with preferred language setting. Now if you download your profile, your achievement list is shown in your profile language and there is now way whatsoever to change it. Then when you unlock a new achievement, it is shown in the language you set up
    in console option. This really doesn't make sense at all.

    Try this. I had this issue once when I unlocked an achievement after setting the console language to Spanish by mistake. Redownload your Xbox profile. I think doing that should refresh the language of the achievements. Just got to make sure it's the language
    you actually speak.
