Account type change

Hi,

My son is 15 and more clued up on xbox settings etc than I am and although I created a child account for him and other children in my family, including screen time etc he has been able to create a new account on his xbox one.

Sadly, he has created it as an adult and therefore the account is without restrictions. While I have been able to add him as a family member, I'm unable to alter his settings to a child as I don't know his 6 digit passkey.

Is there another way that I can do this covertly?

Also you could go to
live.xbox.com/.../Settings and at the top of the screen it gives you the option. Adult, Teen, Child, Custom. The first post I posted should fix the problem.

Actually you need to promote your account. On the console, go to 2nd window under My Xbox, press A. Go to 2nd Window again, Account Management, press A. Go the 3rd window, Your Information, and choose Promote Account.

Sorry to hear that you've found yourself in this pickle.

Well, if you by any chance know his password, you can try the steps outlined here in

You've forgotten your Xbox One passkey. If you enter the passkey incorrectly a couple of times, it'll eventually ask for the password for the account instead. Otherwise, as the ambassadors had stated before, you might be out of luck.

I'm afraid not, those passkeys are there for security purposes so there would be no way to over ride them. Otherwise they would be useless in securing an account.
