    Account suspension / enforcement

So who at XBOX is willing to help? I contacted chat and was given a link to forums that have been closed. I cannot file a case review because the ban wasn't more than 24 hours. If I cannot get more detail on the violation, how am I to correct the behavior?
In fact, if someone can anonymously file a complaint and the person getting banned has no way to know what game / time or any details, then cannot this behavior by the person submitting the complaint be considered a form of harassment? I could randomly report
people, give them 24 hour bans and there's nothing they can do to dispute it? That sounds like a system ripe for abuse. Here is my initial communication if anyone wants to follow up and actually help me.

My son's account received a temporary ban for inappropriate communications. The email was received at 4:34AM (Eastern) today Jan 22. I cannot file a case review but I am seeking additional information so I can understand what occurred and have a further
dialogue with my son. I am hoping someone can explain when the violation occurred, what game or service was being utilized and more detail on what was inappropriate. If I do not have this information, it makes it very difficult to have a conversation and correct
    the behavior.

    :)

  2. I'm out of case reviews, I need to post another one.

I want to post an honest case review on the Xbox Enforcement website to label my cause for my suspension

Meh, 99.9% of the time suspensions are given because you HAVE done something wrong. I've rarely seen the enforcement team get it wrong.

    Account suspension / enforcement

The enforcement team are the only ones who have any information on your son's suspension. The enforcement website will tell you why he was suspended, but even with a case review, they will not give you specific details about what happened.

You may want to review the code of conduct with your son to make sure he understands what can be a violation -

So they won't tell me when it occurred, what game or service was involved or any specifics, is that correct? The information provided is so vague he has no idea what would have been the violation:

This account engaged in inappropriate communications. This activity may include harassment, abusive language, hate speech, profanity, disruptive or offensive language, spamming, or other inappropriate uses of Xbox Live communications features. Temporary
suspension impact: For the duration of the suspension this account cannot use Xbox Live communication features, including in-game and party chat, messaging, video communications, gameplay broadcasting, sharing content, and Skype on Xbox One.

He wasn't even on XBox live for the last 24 hours so what triggered this at 4:34 AM when he was sleeping? How do they prevent people from harassing other people by reporting them falsely?

Correct. They won't give any specifics about what happened. It also takes time for them to investigate reports, so it could have been something that happened months ago. The enforcement team investigates every complaint they receive. They will only take
action if they have found something that violates the terms. So you can be reported a million times, but you won't have any action taken unless you've actually done something.

So you are saying they actually investigate every complaint to see if it is legitimate? How can they verify a live party chat for example? My son doesn't use text chat, only voice chat. Is that actually recorded and stored?

Yes, they investigate every complaint. I don't know exactly how they are stored, but they can access the voice chats, and anything else done on Live, in order to investigate what happens.

That would be an incredible amount of labor and data processing/storage to preserve each unique voice chat stream and analyze it. I've never seen it documented that they are actually doing all that but if true, I would think they would be willing to give
a few more specifics to the parent so I could address the behavior they found was in violation. It's like having the school say your child did something bad but they won't tell you what they did and worse, it's now attached to their record with no way to understand
or clarify the situation. As it stands now, he has no idea what he did wrong and I cannot guide him further without more specific information beyond their vague description they provided.

I've told him he has now been warned that Big Brother is always listening in and watching his gaming. Maybe I can convince him to give it up altogether because the entire experience has been frustrating for both of us. Dealing with Microsoft and their incompetence
    has certainly been eye-opening.

I can feel the frustration that you were feeling G4rone. Please allow me to provide you a heads-up, to be honest, we Ambassadors are not in the position to provide you further details that are not in our scope, specifically the Enforcement Team's field.
As a general information though, someone must have reported your son which is why he got banned. Like any other Enforcement Team out there, based on my experience, I believe they have the tools to answer all your questions of why he got banned. Xbox is not
the only console that has Enforcement Team. I'm also a PC Online gamer so I'm pretty sure how it feels to get suspended or banned. Feel free to submit your case review via:
    enforcement.xbox.com/.../HowTo.

Looking forward that all your queries about your son's suspension or ban get sorted out.

Thanks Phoobee but they only allow a case review if the ban was more than 24 hours. His ban was a 24 hour ban so the case review is not an option. There is no way to contact enforcement directly so I tried to deal with Xbox customer support. They directed
me to the old forums that were closed in August. So it's apparent that they have no intention of providing any follow-up for a 24 hour ban. At this point, I would just like to find general answers to how they govern these bans. What do they have access to?
What kind of time frame are we dealing with (could this have occurred months ago or would it have to have been in the last week)? How do they verify the report was valid? If anyone has any information beyond what is at enforcement.xbox.com, it would be helpful.
I've reviewed all the info at that website and could not find any specific answers to my above questions.

They did post a video years ago explaining a little bit of how they work - - but really, you'd have to work for them to know exactly how everything works.

Pretty much they have access to everything that's done on the Live servers (gameplay, chats, etc.). There is no specific timeframe for when enforcement actions take place. They receive thousands of complaints a day and investigate each one. The team is not
very large so it can take time for them to investigate issues. So the actual issue could have taken place a couple of weeks ago or it may have taken place months ago. It just depends on how long it took for the team to investigate.

Please feel free to navigate each articles so you could get a heads-up of how an Enforcement Team works.

  14. My son also got suspended for 24 hours and has no idea what he did wrong. Am I to understand that the communications ban is based on someone "reporting" him? He only does party chats with his friends so does that mean one of his friends reported him?

Investigations usually do take place because of someone being reported. So it could have been a friend that reported him.
