Account recovered and Gift card purchased

Someone in the USA ( i am from Australia) on the 17th December (i know this from looking up recent activity) recovered my account, changed the password and stole $100 by purchasing a $100 xbox gift card on my account. I am unsure how they did this as i did
not receive an email or text message when it was done in which i usually do. I was able to recover my account back by using forgotten password and have increased security on my account (passkeys and authenticators). This issue could be easily resolved if i
could manage to get someone to look at my account history and will be clear to see what has happened but I have been trying to contact support via Online chat and call back but i just keep getting errors and to try again later messages (getting very frustrated)

Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The Microsoft account balance is essentially the same as a gift card since funds typically come from Xbox gift cards.

It's not possible to gift a game over Live. If you were to purchase it on your account, it would be tied to your account.

You could either send them a disc or send them a gift card to purchase the game themselves. If you buy a gift card, you would need to make sure the gift card is for his region.

Hi! This is not possible. Maybe you can afterwards purchase a gift card with this account in order to send it to the account you would like to use the gift card with?

It's true. You can't use funds from a gift card (which is what the Microsoft account balance is) to purchase a gift card.
