Account name changed 2 years ago. Please Read

So approximately 2 years ago my gamertag was changed by Microsoft to under what I would describe as unfair circumstances. Correspondence with Microsoft also demonstrated at least 2 employees who agreed with this, but were in a 'there is not
much we can do'-esque position. I have not bothered to pay to change my name again partially due to lack of care, but primarily as I am a masters student; so I attempt to avoid spending money on such cosmetic things. However it would still be nice to turn
my Xbox on and see a name I 'like'. I was hoping that you would consider changing my gamertag to 'CHRISTOPHORMICK' as a sign of good faith, with consideration that I invest in and actively promote other Microsoft products. My knowledge of the industry (Bachelors
degree in software engineering, currently studying a masters degree in software engineering, in addition to work and internships in two multinational corporations) informs me that this is a completely feasible request.

Xbox name

I want to change my Xbox gt but it says i have already used my free name change. Ive never changed my name since i made my account over like 6-7 years ago. Ive had my name for years and i wanted to change it but my free name change has been used. I havent changed
it so now i have to pay £8 for a name change i should have for free.

 

Gamertag changed

FNC? I few years ago they made my friend change his account. He was able to freely choose a new name. Now you have to pay? I am wondering why they changed it?

 

In order to change your gamertag, you would have to pay. There is no way around that.

 

Are you a Microsoft employee?

 

No. Official support hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm PST and they will respond during the week, but they will give you the same answer.

 

I see. Normally I'd agree, but considering that my case is an nontraditional circumstance (name was changed years ago, and Microsoft employees stating at the time that the circumstances of my name change were unjust), I am holding out that the Microsoft respondent has
a sense of pride in his/her actions and holds a degree of humanitarianism. Hopefully this is not misplaced.

 

Ultimately, you would have had to contact the enforcement team when your gamertag was first changed to have them review the case to see if they would uphold their decision and give you a chance. Since the name change took place 2 years ago, it's too late
to submit a review.

As Smwutches mentioned, it's not possible to change the Gamertag for free, after it was force changed due to violations of the Terms of Service/ Code of Conduct. Previously there was an option, but this was prone to abuse so it's no longer allowed. For more

I know for fact that there would be means for my gamertag to be changed with Microsoft's assistance without a fee.. I guess this paintbrush approach to all customer requests is just another extension of corporation demanded consumer fealty. Sad.
