Account issue - trying to link account with new xbox 1s

Hi, trying to help my granson. He sold his old Xbox and signed out of his account before letting it go. Now he has a new Xbox 1s and was expecting to log in using his old account on his new device. The only thing that matters to him are his cars in Forza
Horizon 4. When he first tried to sign in on the new device he thinks it created a new account rather than accessing his old one. We signed out and used the 'reactivate account' option (or similar) which sent a security code to the connected phone. But now
no matter where we sign in (the xbox or my laptop) its picking up the account created a few hours ago rather than the one he created a year ago.

Maybe the account name he has written down isn't even correct ? All we are sure of is the phone number linked to the account. Is there a way of seeing the account name associated with a phone number ? Any advice would be appreciated. I can't even find a
way to talk to a real human on their support pages. Thanks

Was he making a forza account or xbox because if he used the email he used to login to microsoft then try to login there with the ild account and see if the same forza account is linked to his xbox account

If he has access to his email and password associated with the account he should be able to sign in.

You can try changing the email on the account to his so he can use it on the XSX, and then make a new account with your email so you can use it on the 1s.

Hi there,

I suggest creating a new account or using another you may have and try linking that to your battlenet, then unlink that account, and try linking the battlenet account to the Xbox profile having issues.
