    Hi Microsoft. My old account was recently hacked even with having 2FA on. I never clicked on malicious links, shared my info, or used the same password across accounts. How my account was hacked was beyond my problem; after all, I did have 2FA and got no messages or warnings. Whatever happened was a falter on Microsoft’s security measures, and I find it ridiculous that I can’t get a refund for Minecraft which was linked to my account. In my eyes, if Microsoft couldn’t keep me safe from an attack, they should bear the brunt of it.

    thing is with microsoft, you cannot use the recovery form for an account with 2fa enabled, you will need to contact support directly as there is no online way of doing this, usually microsoft refuses to touch an account with 2fa on as even they cannot retrieve codes for the account.

    That is a stupid feature.
    Have not they thought that the hackers of the account can activate that aswell?

    This doesn't help with your issue but it's not a good idea to have a MS/Xbox account without 2FA enabled....so many people posting on here that have had their accounts hacked because they haven't enabled proper security with 2FA

    accounts simply don't get hacked/cracked, usually the main reasons are sharing accounts to gameshare, using a very weak password with easy to guess security questions. this is why everyone should use 2FA but even that cannot help when people share accounts.
