Account disappeared

Hello,

today (08/03) I turn on my console that has been sleeping a few days and it asks for a software update, I do it and when finished seems that my account, purchased games, rewards, friends, ecc have disappeared.. what should I do?? there's something like 100
Gb of data on the hdd but I no game/demo shows up!

Hi Zinamo!

Try to download your profile and clear the system caché. After that review in the Downoad history if you still able to download all your stuff.

* Check in the Storage on the Games and aplications Folder if all the games you own appears... open the folder with "A" and review ifall still having the Saved games folder in there.

If the saved games archive appears you only have to redownload your games or transfer the licences again to your console to play agaín.

Same thing happened to me. Been on phone with Xbox for long enough to know they have absolutely no idea how to fix this issue.

Hi there,

when this happens what does your storage section show? Does the storage show as unformatted, or does it show the storage device but just empty? And does the storage size match what it should be?

If the storage shows as unformatted, then something happened to the hard drive, which may (doesn't have to) indicate that the hard drive is broken(or failing).

The only option is to format the drive to see if the issues has been resolved.

The console asks for an update when the most recent update can not be found, so it is most likely a storage issue.

Addtional note, transferring licenses shouldn't be something you need to do, it doesn't do anything that could fix or is a possible cause for the issue.

Hello and thanks everyone for your kind answers that led me to the solution of the isssue, in the memory section of the settings, I was unable to see the hdd at all and that helped me a lot;

the console was kept vertically while trying to solve the problem I shifted it to horizontal position and the issue disappeared! So I removed the hdd cover and found that the hdd was correctly insterted but was not very "still" and moved a little inside
it's bay, so I took it out, cleaned contacts put it back with some paper on it's sides to keep it still and now it appears to be working in both positions.. I still don't understand why it stopped working just after the update since no one touched the console
during the process..

I only have another question, since it is also possible that it's an hdd failure, if I buy a new hdd can I clone the content of my drive so that in case it crashes I can use my games/saves on the same console without having to download everything again?
will I have to download licenses again even if I will use it on the same console?

Most save games allow you to copy them, so you can copy them to a USB storage device (that is configured for use on the 360)

See this link for some information regarding using a usb flash drive on the 360:

You can also use the cloud storage feature (Gold only) to save, save games in.

Licenses are bound to a console not a HDD so you shouldnt need to transfer licenses

First thing to try would be to redownload his profile. Follow the steps below to download the profile.

You might want to download your Xbox LIVE gamer profile in the following situations:

You want to use your Xbox LIVE gamertag on another console.
You have a Zune, Games for Windows, or Windows 8 Microsoft account (download your existing account instead of creating a new account).
You accidentally deleted your Xbox LIVE gamertag from your console.

You can download your Xbox LIVE gamertag to any console. Here’s how:

I would just be patient and wait for Microsoft to fix this issue. It sounds like the same thing that happened here
