Account dead on 360 after name change help!!

Hello,

i am am not the only customer going through this.

i changed my gamertag today to one that was freed up by Microsoft. My GT is now Fembot. This works fine on the Xbox one and on the PC however I cannot sign it or recover my gamertag on the Xbox 360.

when I try to recover it I get the message:

" Sorry, this profile can't be downloaded. Original Xbox live accounts aren't supported anymore. Create a new Xbox live account instead."

i was was on the phone to support for 90 minutes and nothing. I believe the Xbox techs should have thought of this before releasing one million old accounts to new people.

do you have an ETA on a fix and when we can all use our Xbox 360s again?

Gamertag Changing Issues

Well I didn't realize it until I signed in to post on the forum but it appears my name change has gone through. It was a new account so the first change was free and I wasn't charged. I got used to the instant name changes on the 360 so when it took a while
(6 hours after changing I started this post) it seemed off. Thanks for the help!

 

Account Change Question...

Yes, if he changes the original name to something else you can then claim that name. What i would do is have him change the name now (it's 10$) and right after he changes or shortly after he changes it, go claim your name again with a new email (he can't change email that i know of).

This will save your name, your achievements are tied to your old account though, all digital purchases and achievements are on that account. If you want to give him your xbox, just have him setup a new account. If it's he wants your digital games, you can game share later.

It sounds confusing but it's easy come back when you get your new xbox and we can set you up with that too.

 

Also as you can see, on the forums my name is the gamertag given to the person whose gamertag I took. Not my new one.

Works fine on Xbox One and PC, doesn't work on 360. I own a lot of digital 360 games and can't play any of them because of this.

 

It's crappy. At least you are showing up here as Vega.

Okay. I think I found a solution because my 360 is downloading my new profile now.

On Xbox 360:

1. Delete your existing profile. Be careful. Don't delete the content or save games.

2. Go to storage, select the hard drive and press Y. Select "Clear Xbox 360 system cache".

3. Try downloading the profile again.

Worked for me.

On Xbox One:

1. Go to settings.

2. Select Storage

3. Select "Clear Xbox 360 cache".

4. After the reboot start a 360 bc game. The console should download the new profile.

I had to do both to get access to my 360 games on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

If it doesn't work. Try again in a few hours. Maybe the servers are lagging...

Vega, i still get problems for your xbox 360 method after trying to re-download the profile. It still says it can't be downloaded because original xbox live accounts aren't supported.

 

Me too. Same problem after clearing the cache and deleting my profile.

 

If it helps anyone, the thing that worked after clearing the cache was turning the xbox off at the power point for five minutes.

Now it's all good and profile is downloaded.

 

Does it work now? I see your gamertag changed on the forums.
