1. Account Compromised/Xbox Under Attack?

About fourty-fifty minutes ago, I was booted from Xbox Live for no apparent reason while browsing IE. I thought that perhaps it was my internet provider or maybe a disconnection error. However, upon signing in again, I was greeted to the dashboard pop-up
informing me to enter my e-mail and password again, as was required of you when you need to enter your account proof. Now I've mentioned this in past threads for others before, I already entered my proofs. Twice, and a third time I needed to add a secondary
e-mail. All was honky-dory for about 12+ months until a little under an hour ago.

I attempted calling Support, I was greeted twice with a auto-disconnect. A third time, the automatic system was in the middle of it's routine and was abrubtly cut off by the sound of roaring hip-hop and a guy I was
pretty darn sure was not a Microsoft/Xbox Representative. After explaining my situation, he began talking heavily in slang (very uncharacteristic of a Representative) explaining more complex functions of the security sytem and why
the proofs are enforced, he kept stumbling over words and using odd substitutions for certain terms ( 'connecting and confirming your account' described as 'get the thing rollin' and getting you internet'). I abrubtly ended the call in fear my account could
have been compromised. Thankfully, I was able to log-on via laptop and change my password and discovered I had no notification via e-mail to update my proof. Upon re-logging in via console, I was not asked to provide a proof.

Has anyone had this experience within the past 24 hours? I find it odd that my oh-so heavily secured account needed another security proof out of the blue and that my 'Representative' didn't even have a remote clue as to what my situation was or how to help
me.

:)

Account stolen

Hi,

We cannot assist with compromised accounts. You will need to contact phone support for assistance with any sort of stolen/compromised accounts as they are the only folks who can
help in a situation like this.

Click Billing & Memberships > Under Account Management > Click Account Compromised/Stolen > Request a Call.

Anyway I can get a account back stolen from me?

Hi,

For all issues in regards to accounts being compromised or stolen you need to speak with phone support directly.

Visit the following page here, click
Billing and Memberships and under Account Management click
Account Compromised or Stolen and then finally click Request a Call.

Forum support agents, as well as Ambassadors are not able to help with an account that has been compromised.

Well if somebody had hacked your account they wouldn't have been on the phone with you... Or do you think they hacked your phone as well? Seriously you sound more than a little paranoid.

6. If your not going to be helpful, I see no reason for you to comment. Honestly, it'd be appreciated.

I have a land-line. How on earth you'd assume I think they hacked a LAND-LINE is beyond me.

Lol, because you said you called support and talked to somebody you don't think was an MS rep. You then said; "I abrubtly ended the call in fear my account could have been compromised." So yeah, YOU implied that your supposed hacked account also carried
over to your phone call. As I said paranoid.

I was implying the Rep was not doing his job correctly. He stuttered. Had difficulty expalining things. Was listening to loud music while waiting for calls. He wasn't a hacker. Had I actually stated he was not an official Microsoft Rep, I would have provided
the info to online support and warned others in this post, and noted that he was indeed not a Rep. He's simply not doing his job correctly.

Now your mixing things together in context. I feared my account was compromised because of the fact it randomly booted me and kept asking for a proof verification, when I entered it twice prior to the incident.

Again, attacking me for my implications isn't exactly helpful. I'd like the better and more-understanding forum users to assist me instead of someone soley here to insult other posters.

Way to change your story. No wonder you want this post removed since you've completely recanted everything you said in your initial post. Sorry if I'm not "understanding" enough for you, but I never "attacked" you. All I did was point out that the phone
rep, of whom you said; "I was pretty darn sure was not a Microsoft/Xbox Representative" was mostly likely not part of any supposed account hack. But whatever, maybe somebody "better" than me will come along and tell you the rep was in on it and they hacked
you phone as well. Good luck, bye.

11. eber3;

I'm confused, too. I also read the statement in his original post:
I attempted calling Support, I was greeted twice with a auto-disconnect. A third time, the automatic system was in the middle of it's routine and was abrubtly cut off by the sound of roaring hip-hop and a guy I was
pretty darn sure was not a Microsoft/Xbox Representative.
He clearly stated that he believed the person that he spoke with was not a representative. I'm not sure if he thinks that somehow the phone was compromised; if the support number was compromised; or if there was just some odd error and he was connected to
some sort of con artist by a weird twist of luck; or if he just called the wrong number.

As to the OP; I'm guessing that nobody else has had a similar experience, so perhaps you should contact official support again, either via telephone or via the chat function at

13. Account Compromised/Xbox Under Attack?

I've already stated; I was being sarcastic about the whole "not a Representative" deal. There is a joke that sometimes phone support not being so supportful, and that's where I was getting at. Either business was slow/very high, resulting them in throwing
in an employee who usually does not assist customers on phone support, or the guy wasn't doing his job correctly, as was implied by me saying that he mostly spoke in slang and had a hard time figuring out my exact issue. It was one of the things I wondering
if anyone else was experiencing.

@Bong. yeah, I resolved the issue myself, as I mentioned in the original post. I was just curious if anybody else at the time was recieving notifications to update their security proofs and/or were linked with a rather unhelful individual on Support.

I guess nobody got my 'poor support service' joke simply because I mentioned I feared my account was compromised right after that, a simple understanding. I'm aware no con or hacker can compromise my Microsoft account and my phone number, especially considering
it was a land-line and I directly called Support.

I'm not a moron, eber. I know how tech works. Quit putting words in other forum posters mouths.

* I suggest a mod deletes this thread...again. Apparently nobody has experienced said happenings in the OP, so there is no point in keeping it in the forums. Mark the post for spam if you want.

The only words in your mouth are your own. If you really don't want anybody seeing the bizarre things you said, stop replying to this thread and let it get buried. Every time you reply to it, all you do is bring it back to the top of page one ensuring that
even more people will read it.

15. This will be my last response in this ridiculous thread, because as eber3 has stated, every reply to this thread keeps it from dying the death it so obviously deserves.

BornToLose129, I want to close this thread by explaining that it was not so much that you said you feared your account had been compromised as much as it was that you'd said, and I'm quoting here "I abrubtly ended the call in fear my account could have been
compromised." and then continued with "Thankfully, I was able to log-on via laptop and change my password and discovered I had no notification via e-mail to update my proof."

The picture your words paint are not those of a joke about poor representation. Your words paint a picture of a fear of being on the line with somebody who appears not to be a part of support at all and your "abrupt" end of the phone call and follow up reaction
of changing your password in response to this fear.

As I've said, I will no longer reply to this thread any longer. Let's just let it die.
