Account birthdate issue

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that accidentally set your account to child.

If you are an adult but have the wrong birth date on the account, you need to change the account information as if you were a child.

Sign in to your Microsoft account, as if you were a child

Select Learn more about parent/guardian consent at the bottom of the information prompt.

On the next screen, click Update account information .

If prompted, enter your name and click Update .

Next, you will see the screen to update your date of birth.

Does your friend run into any other age restriction issues, or just the Insider app?

When the person's account was created, did the person enter their correct birthdate, or did they enter a random date and updated their account's birthdate later?

The birthdate entered when an account is created is the date the system uses and cannot be changed.

If the birthdate listed on the account 18+? Remember that changing the birthdate on account.microsoft.com does not change the birthdate on the Xbox account

Was the birthdate ever changed? Because it would have used the birthdate listed when the account was created. If it wasn't filled out or was changed at all, that could lead to your issue.

While you may be able to change the birthdate shown on your Microsoft account profile, the Xbox account birthdate cannot be changed. The date that was entered when the account was created will always be the birthdate of the Xbox account. The Xbox account birthdate cannot be changed.
