Account Access Security Code Issue

I am attempting to access my XBL account on my computer and in order to do so, a security code must be sent to my phone. However, I cannot select "Send code" even though my phone number is correct; it is grayed out. When I select the bubble for "I don't
have any of these," nothing happens. I can't even change how I want the code to be sent in my Microsoft Live account because, in order to access the account itself, the security code must be sent.

I am unsure what to do from here.

Xbox Live Customer Service Nightmare

You had better make sure that you have access to your email and/or your text messages if you want help from Xbox live. I tried to call them to get their help in a billing issue. They would not talk to me unless they had a customer code. I needed that billing issue sorted right then, as I really did not want an overdrawn bank account. I did not have access to my email and could not get the code! They refused to talk to me without it. I had to borrow a phone, and call my brother. He logged in to my email. I then had to relay the customer code from my brother to the agent. I like that they are secure, but the way they have it set up is sort of annoying. How do you feel about customer service?

How to control access to your Xbox LIVE account

It is possible to restrict access to your Xbox LIVE account by using a pass code, or making it necessary to sign into your Xbox profile using your Microsoft account password.

Set a pass code

A pass code is a button sequence on your controller, which you can use to restrict access to your Xbox LIVE profile. After you have set the pass code, anyone who wants to sign into Xbox LIVE using your profile must enter the pass code.

Steps to follow

1) Under Settings, select Account

2) Go to Account Security, and then select Pass Code

3) Enter your four-button code on your controller. You can use the directional pads, the triggers, the bumpers, X and Y.

4) Re-enter your pass code for confirmation

The next time you sign in with your Xbox LIVE gamertag, you will be required to enter the pass code.

If you want to change or reset your pass code, just repeat the above steps. You will be required to enter the old pass code before you can change it.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your account.

When you remove the security proofs from your account, it takes 30 days to add your new proofs so that we can confirm that everything is correct and ensure your account's security.

You will not be locked out of the account but it will use the older security proofs. When requesting a security code, make sure that you don't request it multiple times right in a row as it will invalidate older codes that are sent for the newest code. You

The issue is that Microsoft don't allow you to share accounts, it says so in the Code of Conduct, and so they set the security and privacy settings of the console under the same mindset.

One account for one person, with the 'parent' account having control over what the 'child' accounts can access.

If the OP wants to stop his siblings from accessing Internet Explorer then he needs to secure his account.

thanks. is there another way to secure it? because to access security info in my account you need to send a code to the email attached to it but somehow the hacker accessed it without sending one.

What it sounds like is this.

Whenever doing something major (changing passwords, changing emails, changing security proofs, changing regions) on an account MS requires a code be sent to what they call a security proof which is normally either an email address or text to a phone number
for security purposes. This is done to protect your account from unauthorized access.

When the account holder no longer has access to one of the security proofs BUT still has access to the email and password on the account MS will allow you to change the security proof on the account BUT it takes 30 days for that security proof change to
take affect this is to ensure the security of the account. Once the 30 day hold is put into place there is not stopping it. You will still be able to sign into the account and everything but you will not be able to do anything that requires a security code
verification being sent out.
