Sounds like a good idea. "Ow I love this game better pre-order it" comes closer to release date "meh I don't want it any more" (for various reasons).

You can pre-order physical games and choose not to get it on release. Depends on your countries consumer rights laws as well. We have pretty strong consumer rights laws in NZ and in Australia as well.

It is best though to pre-order especially if it's a highly popular game especially if you pre-order the disc version as the retailers may sell out very quickly. I remember when The Sims 3 for PC and Halo 4 for 360 on their release dates. There was a queue
outside the shop they even had a security guard on site.

But I'm on the side that pre-orders in general are stupid.

 

Just because I laugh at the idea isn't a reason to get all upset 24. If you like to pre-order digital then be happy. I will keep laughing and you keep pre-ordering digital. Win win. I think it's stupid and you don't want any body to dare say anything against
it.

And yes, internet speeds here are faster than the States at least what I had. Actually a lot of countries are. I had Verizon Fios at home and Comcast and they both sucked.

 

Its not a big deal to me, it just makes no sense why you are laughing at people for downloading a title in advance that will take hours.

 

I've never walked into a shop on release day and seen any physical disc game out of stock. Also I'm looking at 6-7 hours to download/pre load a digital game here in Australia.

 

I'm not laughing at people for doing it, just the idea. I laugh because some people were so upset that they couldn't do it.

In regards to physical copies not being in stock. Try moving to a small itty bitty country. It happens all the time here. I probably should go all digital because at least they download fast and I won't have to order the physical disc from England.

 

I may live in a big country but I live in a relatively small town. I have never seen a game on disc not be available on launch day. I don't preorder/preload a digital game as soon as it's available but in the last week before release its very handy. I just
hit the button on Sunset Overdrive today as my 200GB monthly allowance resets tomorrow. It just allows people who download some more flexibility as to when they Install as opposed to installing on the set release date. I'll have that big Halo DL next month
so I didn't want to take 80gig in the first 2 weeks of the cycle.

 

Yeah, unless you're dealing with an Atlus game or some other import scenario, physical games simply don't sell out any longer.

I guess the exception being the itty bitty country where people root for the trophy-less Eagles.

 

I went to buy Diablo 3 for the Xbox ONE on release. They only brought in 3 copies. The Evil Within, 5 copies. A lot of times they only bring in enough for pre-orders unless it's an over hyped game like Destiny. Then they might have like 10 or 20.
