Destiny, disc Pre-Ordered no Pre-Download

I canceled my pre-order at Gamestop last week and this morning when I got up I pre-ordered and pre-downloaded the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition right from the Xbox Store.

So basically you can do something completely pointless and pay for a a digital version of the game before it comes out just so you can spend 4 hours in the phone with a support agent until they figure out how to refund you.

It's good that you let people know ice S 0, but I laugh at the whole concept of digital pre-orders just so you can save 20 to 30 minutes and play at 12:00 instead of 12:20.

 

You can use Support chat. And don't forget games are mandatory installs, Not all games supports play while downloading. That's why options are good

^^ No, i do not laugh at physical pre-orders. I do that to ensure I get a copy. It's not like a digital copy is going to "sell out" and not be in stock.

The stores here hold low stock so pre-orders are the way to go with popular games.

 

I doubt I'd ever use it, but it's nice to know we have cancelling as an option.

Digital preorders do make sense because they ease the burden of 25-50GB downloads and let consumers have access to the same preorder goodies customers get at retail.

^^20-30 minutes of downloading? In what world does it take 30 minutes to download a 45GB file? Digital pre-ordering is great for those with slow connection speeds.

 

I have a few game downloads like Wolfenstein which is 48gb. It was 30 minutes. It sucks that some people have busted up internet speeds. So yes, 25 to 30 minutes.

 

"four hours with support"... just as an FYI... Last year I purchased NBA2k14 as a digital download. The game was full of bugs and with the 2K servers down, the game was unplayable. I started a chat with Support. Someone start chatting with me in less
than five minutes. I told the person I wanted a refund because the game was basically unplayble. Five minutes later my access to the game was removed AND I had the money returned.

No problems, no fussing, and it didn't take long at all.

 

^^ Some people are lucky. I've never had a call last under 2 hours between holding etc.

 

So because it takes you 20-30 minutes to download a 48GB file you laugh at others who dont have that luxury? Makes total sense. And to have that big a file downloaded so quickly you are on what a 10GB connection? I didnt know Ireland had so tremendous internet
speeds.

It has nothing to do with being impatient, it has to do with convenience, and having things all setup and ready to go ahead of time instead of waiting for hours upon hours for the game you want to finish downloading.

 

Between work, kids and wifey my gaming time is short, so I love being able to cut out the extra download time. I have a decent connection but it takes more than a half hour for a full Xbox One game to download for me. Beyond that since I prefer digital anyway
its just a nice perk.
