Accidentally Got Into A Modded Lobby

Hi, I got into a modded lobby a while back accidentally on Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and I felt really dirty about for a long time. I still haven't been banned on the account that it happened on. After months of feeling sad and scared about it, I came
to the conclusion to make a new account and start fresh so that my profile would be clean and fully legitimate. I closed down the profile that it happened to. Was this the right thing to do? Thank you so very much for your time.

Can you be banned for accidentally getting into/participating in a modded lobby? (As long as you are not the modder)

If you are caught in a modded lobby by the PET you will be summarily banned from live with your gamertag. They no longer give any distinction between whether you got there accidentally or not.

 

I believe everyone has run into modded lobbies from time to time with Mw2 and the older titles being the worst. It is what you do once you are in them that gets you banned. The best thing to do is shut your XBOX down especially if you think your stats have
changed. If you kept playing in the lobby then they can construe you intended to play in it. If you has backe dout then usually there will be no repercussions.

Thank you, but I was mostly wondering if making a new account was the right step since unintentionally recieved modded stats on modern warfare 2.

 

Modded stats usually work by 'infection', so you won't have a choice, so it's not really your fault. If you want to play the game to get your stats up legitimately, then a new account can help you do that.

You could try contacting the developers to see if they can reset your stats, but I'm not sure if they still support a game that old.

 

someone infected my friend's account so his brother and me helped him get it sorted, he had to start a new account and he rarely played MW2 again

i found the modder's account and messaged him why he infected my friend's account and he said he didn't i was in that modded game and i saw him flyin about and spawntrapping ppl it got me sooo mad so i reported him
