    Accidentally gifted the a game on the wrong platform


    To start with, I've tried calling support, but the line cut out.

    On with the issue. I was gifted a game by my friend that both of us thought was for PC. Turns out it's for Xbox. I don't own an Xbox, so that's useless to me. I already redeemed the code, thinking I could download it straight away and play it. Obviously,
    this was not the case. As such I've not used it at all and it was done today (28th November 2020).

    I've tried finding a support email to no avail and this means I don't know how to resolve the issue. Apparently, once the code is redeemed it's a lot harder.

    Since this is a community support thing, I understand that there may not be any official response, but if anyone has experience in this situation I'd appreciate hearing what happened to you. Is it possible for Microsoft to remove the game from my account
    and give a Steam (my friend was going to gift it to me on this, but it was not able to be gifted on Steam, but we saw it was available on Microsoft without seeing the Xbox bit, as you need to scroll to see that) voucher (or just for the cost of the game, which
    is cheaper) equivalent to the payment to get the game?

    I'm sorry to hear that you gifted the wrong platform for the Destiny Legacy Collection DLC. Unfortunately destiny 2 canr.be bought on pc via xbox games for Windows 10

    You can only buy it via battlenet or steam for pc aa mentioned in the link above

    You would have to refund on the platform you gifted on

    You can only gift the console version on the xbox network

    The only way to exchange your purchase would be to submit a refund for it and then purchase the correct version of this DLC. Unfortunately, a digital gift can't be refunded once the recipient has redeemed its code. This is mentioned in the Microsoft Gift Terms and Conditions (digital goods):

    "4- Returns and Refunds. Gifts may be canceled and refunded to the Gift purchaser up to 14 days after the purchase or until redeemed by the Gift recipient, whichever occurs first".

    Refund Request     to get in contact with a refund agent to have the gift refunded so you can send it to the correct e-mail.
