Accessory Replacement Question

They usually do send out a notification email. However, you can always contact phone support to find out what is happening with it.

In all fairness, just buy another one. The controllers only have a 90 day warrenty. There are still Halo controllers out there to buy seperately.

Generally accessories aren't registered with the exception of the Kinect. Should you need a replacement controller, you can select "Replace an Accessory" that will appear under your console. This will then lead you to a page that will ask you to enter the
Product ID, which is where you'd enter the Serial. I have used this myself for replacing a new controller that I'd purchased after the console was out of warranty, and I can say that the controller was still replaced for free. I can only assume that when the
controller is first connected to a console, something get's pinged to Microsoft that activates the warranty for the accessory. I'd also imagine that if they haven't received such a ping that they will ask for proof of purchase.

Thanks for the reply. In reference to your question, controllers are not repaired. As mentioned by XBF Chris,
if the accessory is compromised and within warranty, then we recommend requesting a replacement : Request an
Xbox controller replacement.

You should be able to obtain a replacement PSU brick by selecting the Replacement Accessories box. If it's not showing up as a replacement accessory, call Support to set up a repair. The console warranty is supposed to cover everything in the box.
