Accessing Xbox games on multiple xboxes

Hi Folks - hoping someone can help me. We recently got Xbox One X and have an existing Xbox One. We want our child using the Xbox One X to be able to access games previously played on Xbox One. How do I set this up? Also when setting up the home Xbox,
is that based on device or profile?

    :)

1 yes you would need to download the game no need to remove it once downloaded just leave it.

    2. Saved game progress moves with the profile as long as it is saved to the cloud. You can move a profile on a USB if needed.

    3. Only one Xbox console is your home Xbox if you designate a new home Xbox when the previous one goes online the home feature is removed. You can change the home Xbox 5 times in a years time. If you use all 5 changes you have to wait for the first change
to time out to change it again.

Copy the profile to the portable device (USB or memory unit). Once you've selected the gamer profile you want to move, select "Move," and select the memory unit you want to move it to. Moving the gamertag from the console will permanently
delete it - you can re-establish it by connecting the USB device again and following the prompts

Ok, as a parent you do not need to set a console as your Home Console.
The family, security, and privacy settings
will still be followed that you set for your children's account, regardless of Home console designation or you being signed in or not. No need to worry about that.

Easiest way I use to think about it is each account has two licenses for each game they own. One license is used when they sign into a console (any console). The other is used for that account's Home Console; any one that uses that console can use that
license. So if the son's Xbox is set as your daughters Home Console, your son, when signed in, can play all his games and all the games your daughter owns. Vice versa for the daughter. Her console set as his Home console, and she has access to all his
    games, and her own.

As for parental controls, doesn't matter where your account is or it's status, security settings will be in place. But in that configuration if kids want to play a game you own, your account would have to be signed in where they want to play it, as each
console can only have one Home Console designation at a time.

Hope that clears things up and answers your question, as opposed to muddying the waters, which it quite possibly did. Let me know and I will hopefully not confuse things more.

    Thanks PalmettoBling.

Let me elaborate :). My son uses Xbox One and all games are installed on that console either under his profile, my profile or my daughters profile. The Xbox X will be used by my daughter and the reason for this was so that they could play with each other
on games where they previously could not because the game was one player. We have Xbox Live and have it set up via family where I am the parent. Before Christmas I chatted with support and the person I spoke to confirmed that as long as the Xbox One was set
as the home console, my daughter would be able to pick up her games on the Xbox X...this is what I cannot get to work. Should I be setting 'home' under my profile (being parent) on the Xbox One? Or under my son's profile?

I cannot seem to find a web chat support option anymore, so apologies for bombarding you with a million questions ;).

    1. If your daughters Xbox is set as your son's Home Console, then she would be able to install and play it without any issue and without needing him to sign in. The question back would be do they EACH have Xbox Live Gold or only one account? Xbox Live
Gold allows them to play online, and if your son has it, the Home Console designation would allow your daughter to use it as well. If they both have it, then it's no different or issue.

    2. If she signs in on the Xbox One X, she can install them directly, or use Network Transfer to copy them over the
    local network
, which would likely be faster. If she's on the One X signed in, then her progress and saves will sync and she can pick up where she left off, and it should be seamless.

    3. Each account can only have one Xbox set as Home Console, and each console can only have one account that claims it as "Home Console". It's a one to one relationship there, so each console has a different account set as home. My recommendation would
    be:

Xbox One X, son's primary console -> Set as Daughter's Home Console

Xbox One, daughters primary console -> Set as Son's Home Console

That way they both have access to all of their and their siblings games by default. This is a similar setup to what I use at home for my son, daughter, and myself. I just throw a PC into the mix as well to play Minecraft and Sea of Thieves with them.

Please do not hesitate if you have any more questions.

    Some follow up questions lol

    1. Using an example, COD, my son owns it and can play on his Xbox. My daughter does not own it but would like to play with him online. My assumption is that she would need to install this game on Xbox X before being able to play it right? After that is done
they should both be able to play on their Xbox?

    2. Any games my daughter might have installed on the Xbox One, do we reinstall these on the Xbox X and she will pick up where she left off in terms of progress etc?

    3. I noticed that both Xbox are set as home, so my assumption is I set my son's to home and remove the one on my daughters?

    Appreciate your help!
