Access to My Games slow after patch

I installed the patch for Xbox 360 the other day and ever since, it takes ages when I go to 'My Games' to see them appear. The circle just spins for ages until the games finally show up.

Have loads of complaints......

All games will update the patch from the internet prior to installing the content from the disc. If you have slow internet you are waiting on that to download the patch first.

You can install the games without being connected to the internet then connect and patch them after install if need be.

after downloadin the patch the initial start to Community Creations was slow, but after that its workin like a charm, way better than before....

 

I can confirm similar performance issues; I am even noticing lag in-game for somethings.

 

Unfortunately, I don't think there will be a fix for this. The system OS sits on a maximum of 32 MB chip in the system. They're jamming in all these 'features' with newer updates, and that, slows the OS down. That, and the RAM that the console has, it takes
longer and longer with every dashboard update. It's just noticeable this time. If you've ever used a launch Xbox 360--The thing boots up in literally 2 seconds after the logo. Now? It takes time nearing a minute to get into My Games to actually play something.
You could clear your cache to try and improve the situation, but it hasn't done anything for me.

 

Yeah I tried clearing the cache. Didn't do anything and now I have to download updates for all my games when I first play them again...

 

Same problem here.

Press X for game details or selecting a game in store stays on the spinning circle for up to a minute.

It's not a pleasant experience at all.

Something has happened recently that has basically ruined the 360.

I believe most of the OS is actually stored on the hard drive so it is possible for them to fix this.

Personally though I still have fond memories of the original 360 dashboard at launch. It was fast and functional. All these extra features over the years have bloated it and slowed it down.

Personally I don't see why they needed to add the activity alerts as they are mostly just showing what people are doing on the xbox one. Probably their way of tempting 360 owners to buy an xbox one.

 

The OS is stored on the NAND (or NOR, don't remember) chip. The cache, and other created 'data' is stored on the HDD. Yes. The entirety of the 360 OS is bloatware. Advertisements (and I'm paying for that?), broken features (Pins), and useless garbage (who
listens to music on their Xbox? Seriously?). It is their way of trying to get people to upgrade. Inevitable push to being obsolete

But if you remove the HDD or replace it you get asked to download the system update again. Meaning at least part of the OS is stored on the HDD.

 

It shouldn't...I don't get any prompts if I remove my HDD. Maybe it needs some parts and DRM off of the HDD or something. Who knows :S

 

Do you have a 4GB model by any chance?

If you do then the 360 system software may be stored in the internal 4GB flash

I suppose it's also possible the newer 360E's store the whole system software on chip as well but that's just a guess

 

I'm having the same problem. Also, I have noticed that with my pinned apps, when I click on one it no longer takes me directly to the game or the app. Instead, it takes me to another menu where I have to click on another link to open the game. For gods
sakes, why does this console keep getting worse instead of better??

 

All updates patch over the OS on the chip... It's like loading an OS off of a disc. You still RAM for it. Unfortunately, the 360 has very little RAM so that's probably why it needs the HDD to dump stuff onto.

Also, yes. They're 'aware' of the opening app page instead of actually launching it issue.
