Accepting Game Invites while playing backwards compatibility games

I was playing gears of war 3 on xbox one with the backward compatibility. i would play a match online, and then after that match i would receive a game invite like you would get when playing on xbox 360. i cant accept the invite by pushing the center button
anymore obviously, and when i check my messages and notifications there is nothing there. Is there a way that to accept any of these that i am just flat out missing, or does an invite from someone playing on 360 never reaches anyone playing on xbox one?

I don't believe you can play with 360 owners don't Xbox one and 360 run on different servers?

 

i thought so, but like i said i am getting invites in the form of xbox 360. i cant open them, accept, or find anything i my messages.

 

If you're playing a backwards compatible game, you can play with 360 players. I haven't done it though so I'm not sure if you're running into a glitch or something though.

 

You have to press the back button & start button at the same time to accept an invite if I remember.

I know they're not called that on the xbox one controller but you know what I mean lol

 

yep, press the select and menu button together to bring up the 360 guide and go to messages or friends list or whatever and treat it exactly like the 360, even 360 parties work like they should.
