Accept Xbox 360 update with no controller

Our Xbox 360 controllers had their batteries die and where replaced. Now upon console restart it is prompting whether we want to proceed with a system update. Unfortunately the controllers are now not synced with the console so with controller we can't
answer yes or no. We're stuck at this menu. I've tried re-connecting both controllers, but the system does not appear able to accept new connections at this menu. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Buy a wired controller and try?

Xbox One controller problems!

To ease this is a problem with the controller but there is a controller update coming to Xbox one. But first make sure you goto to settings Device & accessories and sign the controller to someone and click on update controller to the Xbox one. then accept
the new update to fix this.

Unfortunately you will need a controller to accept the update and reconnect to Xbox Live. There isn't a way to bypass the update and still be able to connect to Xbox Live. You could do the update offline, but you'll still need a controller to process the
update on the console. We'd suggest seeing you you can borrow an Xbox 360 controller from a friend or family member to do the update and then return it after.

The system accepts controller sync at any 'screen'. It's hardware sync and isn't directly controlled by software. Press and hold the button. Alternatively you could disconnect it from the internet and try again.
