Pretty Surprised That Project Spark Never Caught On

I've never been a fan of games like Minecraft where you build your own world and just sort of, walk around in it. I just never got the appeal, so when Project Spark was announced way back when, it was pretty much just white noise for me. Fast forward to when they announced Conker DLC being involved and all of the sudden I became interested enough to buy the game, and let me say I'm honestly pretty impressed with it.

I'm no expert on what constitutes a great building tool for this genre, but from what I've played Project Spark seems to tick the boxes. And just look at it! I just think that the world's are actually interesting! I'm shocked that Minecraft, which is ugly as hell, has such an appeal when genuinely interesting worlds like the ones you can create in Spark apparently don't. I have a younger sister and she simply adores the game, building worlds on a weekly basis and I just think that all of those kids who love Minecraft would love this game too. I'm just surprised it never caught on.

I'm no world builder, but if I can put together things like this:

Simple meadow pathway. Haven't had the chance to put in any NPCs or enemies or objectives yet. Just the structure of the world itself.





This section is a part of a mountain climb, heavy platforming along these rock formations stemming from the mountain.





A swimming area, complete with underwater caverns and cliff-like structures inspired by Rayman Origins.





A house inside a cave.





Another house, they didn't have any assets for Conker's house, so this'll do as the starting area.

Then I can't see how more people haven't created much more amazing places. I really think that the gaming world didn't give this game enough attention, because I think it's damn good at what it is.
