Abyss Odyssey (Xbox 360)

Has anyone got bought and played this game yet? Is it worth getting? Not too many reviews are out yet from the major gaming sites.

I first saw this game about a week ago on the playstation blog. And it looked quite interesting. I'm a huge fan of side scrolling games. I grew up playing games such as Castlevania, and Metroid. And this game looks like it could be a fun playthrough.
My only gripe about the release of the game is not being on new generation consoles such as the XB1.

I wouldn't mind hearing some opinions and thoughts on the game for anyone who has played it.

How do I gift a digital download?

Hi,

I want to gift my brother a digital version of the Dark Souls DLC Artorias of the Abyss. How do I do that? I don't own an Xbox 360. First time on this website.

Welcome to the 360! I own an Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 is my personal favourite. If you're into JRPG's then I suggest you try Lost Odyssey.

 

According to the developer it looks like they believe the certification process to patch and hotfix issues is too difficult for the console versions of the game and aren't sure if they are going to support it. Per a developer on their offical website

"The complexities of patching doesn't only have to do with fees. You have to submit your patch to a certification process for starters. So even if we simultaneously prepared patches for all platforms you would still have to wait for these to go through the
internal channels before they are released. Nothing we can do about that.

Other reasons why is it so much easier to make patches on PC: We can develop content without being concerned about certification requirements. A lot of the new content that we've already produced for PC would be 'rejected' in it's current form even though
it's perfectly functional. Consoles require us to comply with very specific guidelines which make developing content more difficult. We'll have to invest extra time and resources on getting the extra content ready for re-submission.

We really want to support the consoles as well. But because of these added complexities the amount of support we get from the console community has to merit the extra work. And because the patching system is so much harder, even if we have enough support
there's no way we can update as regularly as PC. Best case scenario is that we'll wait for a bunch of fixes to accumulate before sending over a new submission.

They are fully supporting the PC version though, so if your interested get it there. But i would definitely pass on it for consoles if they refuse to support it

 

This is actually not true but it does seem they're waiting to put out a more comprehensive patch. If you 'are' following the PC version you may have noticed even after two patches there are still issues they're working to resolve. The console version is
also ahead of the PC version right now as we're on the second mask working toward breaking the third.

 

You should read the developers forums before deciding to get this game. They are pretty much saying the console versions will never have the features as the PC and may not even get the PvP mode which is being made. The PC version already has a Friendly fire
toggle OFF, a Nightmare mode (harder difficulty) and many other features... If you believe in this statement made by a developer.

Then yea sure get it because in this case it goes beyond how good or bad the gameplay is. There are many other things to consider.

 

That developer sounds like a lazy turd that is afraid of a little hard work.

Basically they are like, "waaaaa, we will have to do extra work, waaaaaa and get it approved waaaaa".

 

Its a small team so they don't have the resources other developers have. I bought the game for PC and its pretty good. For 10 bucks, its a fun game and a good time killer. They seem like they will be bringing a lot of cool stuff to it on a regular basis
as well.

 

Oh please, There are Indie games on Xbox that were made by one person that gets updates every month or so.

 

well with the hoops devs have to jump to get patches and updates out, I really don't blame them. I have the PC version so im not concerned, but I were a developer id probably stay away from MS and just work with PC and Sony
