abusive players , rude players , players coming on just to be idiots

This is why I generally stick to my tried-and-true friends online. Playing with randoms is obviously going to be a mixed bag. This is really a non-issue because of how obvious it is. If you don't have friends, play with randoms long enough to friend the
best of the ones you play with and there you go.

 

The worst I think I had was during Space Marine's horde mode. Exterminatus. The guy wasn't being offensive -- he was just being a really annoying, hyper-nerd commander. Giving orders and barking instructions. lol He was also dying, A LOT, and the only way
you get a lot of lives in that mode is if the team is scoring well... and he wasn't. So one of us must have been. Heh ha.

Advice from a dude playing way worse than you are is pretty annoying.

The funniest random I played with though was on AvP's (even then) dead multiplayer. Again, playing a version of horde mode. We got right to the final round when he died, and I was scrabbling backward with one of those armoured Alien-types chasing me, and
this guy was sounding off like a soldier in another area or something. "Think of your family man! Just keep it together! Remember your training! You can get through this! DON'T YOU DIE ON ME!"

I couldn't play because my eyes were watering from laughing. His American, Southern drawl accent was hilarious.

I do go on a muting spree when I hit a lobby almost all the time, but it's mostly to eliminate music, and crap talkers generally have the permanent ))) I'm talking, I'm talking, I'm talking symbol... next to their little speaker... so they get zee mute too.
Most matches start with the constant "ka-plink, ka-plink" of "this person has been muted". Not a fan of multiplayer in general though. I'll play locally a lot, but only have the very occasional game online.

 

My favorite online moment was the episode of Family Guy where Peter is playing MW2 and doing nothing but jumping. It's the abuse he get's that's funny, like "Why don't you go and hide somewhere until the game is over". Aww c'mon guys, I'm still learning

 

Some people just don't have respect buddy... That's life

 

You know when you go to a social event and there are those awkward looking gimps in the corner that are being laughed at by the girls because of the obvious social and anger issues. That's those rude dudes on Xbox live.

Unfortunately any vehicle that allows a person to say as they please, no matter how rude, whilst being out of reach of the nearest fist will encourage these people to come out of the woodwork. Its a d**k measuring contest, and they volunteer themselves as
the losers.

Never mind them, they are just idiots that think they're cool and tough through anonymity.

Real life is plagued by these heathenous individuals too.

i agree ...call of duty is far worse then halo ... the amount off swearing on the game is astonishing

 

swearing doesn't bother me at all. But I can't tolerate loud music, someone singing/rapping, or repetitive inside jokes.

 

I can't tolerate adults taunting younger players until they are in tears.

 

Party chat saved the day, also having the option to quickly mute others made life so much easier.

 

While I agree that there are numerous jerks online who deserve nothing more than to be reported and ignored, I think the party chat has become a double-edged sword. On one hand, like Bones above me stated, it can get you away from all the nasty buffoonery
that's the topic of discussion. However, on the other hand, it also makes it harder for those who are more socially apt, like myself, to make new acquaintences. For example, I'm big on teamwork, especially in FPS games. I will try to coordinate my team by
calling out enemy locations and so on, even with complete strangers. However because many people are in party chat talking to other friends while playing, it makes it incredibly hard to socialize, meet new people, and coordinate teamwork.

 

I just mute everyone in public lobbies, only ever talk to friends on Xbox.

 

lose the mic. I disconnected it a few years back when I'd finally had enough. At this point I have to be reminded it's even an option. It's obvious I don't miss it.

 

I've always tried to act silly and buffoonish to ease the tension of ragehards, disrespectfuls and trolls. When I enter a game and start with some silly comment in my goofy voices I know if i'm going to have a good time or not due to people either laughing
or immediately going "ok mute you F'r". You can't avoid the morons. Even though the avoid system works there are still times where it has to throw you intoa game with one every now and then. Heck, on world of tanks I've probably avoided like a thousand people
by now! and I see one every 10-20 games or so from the mute icon. it's funny how I hear other people complain about a moron in the game and I say "oh is it so-and-so?" and yeah, sure enough it is. so these people never really change do they? even after being
avoide for months I can still enter a fresh game and see other people instantly complain about them. A bit surprising to say the least.
