    I have an Xbox 360 premium edition (20 GB) which was purchased back in 2006, but had been replaced two or three times since then under warranty. This issue is with my brother's Xbox live account, gamertag H2Shawn. I don't have Xbox live gold.

    This issue has been happening since the beginning of this year (January or February 2016). We play two games on our Xbox 360: Call of Duty: Black Ops and GTA V. Both games are installed on a USB drive.

    Here is the issue. While playing online in Black Ops, the game will randomly disconnect from an online match (we are playing split screen on the same account). At any given time, for absolutely no reason, we get disconnected from the lobby we're in, the
    screen goes black with the "Call of Duty----Black Ops" logo in the corner with the spinning loading circle, and a notification appears saying "Disconnected from Xbox Live". I am still signed in but I have to press the center button and then click "connect
    to Xbox Live". Almost always, it will spend two minutes trying to connect, then give me the error code 8015190E:

    Clicking on this link above, my problem is SCENARIO 2: Sign in status changed. This happens so often but I know there is no problem with the Xbox Live service. We check the service in the Xbox menu and it says everything is up and running, no issues. I doubt
    we have been temporarily blocked due to suspicious activity because all we play is Black Ops (old game) or my brother drives around in GTA V (not even online). The profile is not corrupt because we have recovered the gamertag many many times. I have also used
    three different USB drives and a hard drive. Lastly, we are not signed in anywhere else; no other Xbox 360 has our account on it.

    We have cleared the system cache many times. I used to have a hard drive that was old on it but I have since thrown it out completely (it isn't attached to the 360 anymore). So that page above is useless. This is usually what happens.

    Other times, this can happen as well: while playing in an online match, we get disconnected from the lobby and the screen goes black with the "Call of Duty----Black Ops" logo in the corner with the spinning loading circle. This time, we do not disconnect
    from Xbox live; our sign in status does not change. But we go back to the MULTIPLAYER menu and it says:

    Error

    The Call of Duty: Black Ops server is not available at this time. Please try again later or visit http://www.callofduty.com/blackops/status for updates" (Press A to exit).

    Again, it happens so often that there is no way that the server is actually down. When we try to go back into an online lobby, the screen will say "connecting..." with the loading circle spinning for about a minute or two. Then it will repeat the same error
    above (server not available at this time). Occasionally, it will go away on its own and we can just join in again. Other times, the only way to remedy this is to sign out, remove the disc, or turn off the 360.

    The last thing that sometimes happens instead is we enter a game, and all our classes have X's through them:

    ALright well scratch that, for some reason this site doesn't allow me to upload jpegs. Not surprised at Microsoft's inability to do anything. Anyways, all my classes have a cross through them, much like a no parking sign . Then I know that within about 15-30
    seconds, I will experience on of the above two issues (either sign in status changed or server not available at this time).

    Again, I have bought three different USB drives and thrown out my hard drive. I have chatted with 360 support here on xbox.com and they have told me they don't know what's wrong. I went through all their solutions and nothing worked.

    When I play GTA V, everything is fine unless I play in GTA Online. So I join a lobby, and about five minutes in, it states that everyone in the lobby has left. Then at that point, I get an error saying "Unknown connection error". At that point, the game
    returns to single player. If I try to join again, sometimes it says "failed to join, please return to GTA V and try again later". Other times, I can join again, but then eventually the problem will return. If I'm lucky, I will get to play for about half an
    hour before it happens again. Sometimes instead, we will have our sign in status changed like I explained earlier (error code 8015190E), but not nearly as often compared to when I play Black Ops. Recently, when I play with a friend in an online GTA V match,
    it will say he left the game, but I am still in the game. On his end, he tells me I left the game, and he is still in the game! So we're both in the game but can't see each other! This is more recent.

    I have also called my internet provider. They came to inspect my whole set up and they said everything is good. They even replaced my router and modem for me.

    I am at my wit's end. My brother purchased a year of Xbox Live gold only to deal with this nonsense. The console is literally unplayable. I am utterly disgusted by Microsoft. I vow to never purchase anything that bears the MS name again if I can't solve
    this issue. I would be insane to stick with them; we have paid money for a service that isn't there!

    Does anyone have any idea why my console is doing this? Also, where is a good place to inquire about filing some sort of complaint about the Live service? I know people whine and complain all the time but I am telling you that my console is literally unplayable
    for anymore than 10 or 15 minutes without disconnecting. Single player stuff works fine, but online is a no go.

    Please does anyone have any idea?

    PPS: I just spent the last half hour waiting for the forums to go back online. It said "Uh oh, that shouldn't have happened, it appears you found a glitch in the system. Please try again later." or something. Ugh. Microsoft, can you get any worse?

    Lol, I love the Xbox but I absolutely hate dealing with xbox live and its constant problems. Buying, redeeming codes, something always goes wrong. Nothing regarding xbox live has ever run smoothly for me. PSN is so much more hassle free.

    it seems it has something to do with the update?

    Can you start the update manually?

    If not can you change your DNS Server on the Network connection to google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

    The DNS thing is only to be sure that the update will contact the right update Server.

    If you have changed your DNS shutdown your xbox and restart it.

    Be also sure that your xbox is NOT on instand on mode. It should be on power save mode.
