Abroad for 12 months. If I migrate region, will I lose content forever?

I'm aware that some content is not licensed for use in certain countries. I'm in Australia on a 12 month visa and have just tried to download the latest games with gold offer, civilization, only to find I couldn't. After a little digging, I think my account
still being a UK account may be the problem, but I'm not keen on the idea of migrating the account as I'm only here for another 9 months.

If I do switch it to Australia now and find that some content is no longer available, when I switch it back to UK in 9 months, am I right in assuming I will regain access to it, or is it a permanent loss?

use this tool to migrate to spain however you will lose access to previous region locked content you purchased

your best bet is to buy after you migrate

to use a new creditcard you need one from spain

for thw best experience on live you must use the same region as you are in

Where has the migration page gone !!!!?

If the account migration FAQ was still available I could link you to it, but it did state the the region migration was irreversible. In 12 months you could migrate your account to one of the other 9 regions that were available through the tool, but if you
had originally migrated from a region such as the US or UK, there was no way to migrate back to those regions.

It is true that some content is not available in all countries so you will not have access to them. You can read about it here:

support.xbox.com/.../change-region

Some licensed content that you no longer have access to in Australia will still be available to you when you return to the UK. If it was a subscription service (for example xbox music, etc) that is not available in Australia the subscription will continue
to run out even while you cannot use it. But you can re-add the service when you return.

your account region must reflect your actual region not where your locale is

@floppy as people don't always have a payment method for the region and not all regions are supported

the migration tool isn't a toy if you are temporarily visiting your best option is to make a roaming account rather then doing it on your main account due to what happens with region migrations

you lose access to previous regions region locked content

international laws have been around forever

until there is 1 set standard for content rules that's not going to happen anytime soon

gta 4 is region restricted due to content and violence
