About old gamertags.

I can put in random letters and see if it's available but it won't say that it has to have numbers at the end. Especially if it's an Original name that no one has ever made before.

I wish someone could just click a box and make it available for me. Or give them numbers so I can have the one without numbers.

If they appear offline all the time then there's no way to see when they were last online.

No one can just "click" a button & give you the gamertag i'm afraid.

It's also possible that the account is banned in which case the tag may never be freed up..

Unless they change their tag or the 5 or 2 year thing happens that i described then there is no way at all to get that gamertag.

What if the account is tied to other accounts? Like if he has a Home Xbox kind of thing set up? Does that count as this sub profile still being "used?"

The guy who used it has taken a lot of other profile names before, he doesn't log in to any of those accounts as far as I know. He appears the accounts offline at all times. Is there any way I could check to see when it was last online? He has 270 total gamerscore and his last activity was an achievement he got in 2015.

If the gamertag doesn't log onto any Microsoft services for 5 years then it may be freed up or if the account linked to the gamertag doesn't sign into any Microsoft services for 2 years then it may be freed up.

All you can do is check from time to time to see if that gamertag becomes available,there's no other way for a tag to be made available.

You need to also remember that gamertags are used on other services,not just Xbox live,so there is no way of knowing for sure if a gamertag is in use or not.
