Able to use both a headset with "Xbox Wireless" protocol AND ALSO the xbox "stereo headset...

If I'm using a headset that's connected to my Xbox One with the "Xbox Wireless" protocol, can I *also* use the xbox "stereo headset adapter" to control muting/volume/etc?

By "Xbox Wireless" I mean the ability for headsets to connect to xbox wirelessly (just like the controllers do). For example, this SteelSeries Arctis 9X headset uses the 'xbox wireless' protocol. And Stereo Adapter is this https://support-origin.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/stereo-headset-adapter

I know that 'xbox wireless' headsets do NOT REQUIRE the Stereo Adapter to function, BUT I want to know if I can still use the stereo headset adapter AT THE SAME TIME as the 'xbox wireless' headset.

Essentially I want to be able the use the mute button on the 'stereo headset adapter' since it's more convenient. Thanks!

    :)

    Xbox Wireless Headset Issues

I’ve always had problems with wireless headsets on Xbox. My turtle beach headset that also uses the Xbox wireless protocol has this problem.

    Xbox wireless headset on pc

It will work with the following: -

    • Up to 8 wireless controllers simultaneously without headsets
    • Up to 4 wireless controllers simultaneously with mono single ear headsets
    • Up to 2 wireless controllers simultaneously with stereo headsets
As it uses Xbox Wireless (the same wireless protocol that Xbox consoles use), you get more functionality than you would get if you were using Bluetooth. It also supports all official accessories, such as the Chatpad.

With Bluetooth, MS recommend you only use 1 controller at a time and accessories are not supported.

No you can't do that. I know what you mean, I posted feedback about that before.

I am disabled and can't reach my mic to mute it. It would be nice to have that option built into the controller. Or by a headset adapter.

I hope they add a way to do that.

Bluetooth stereo on PC with my new Xbox Wireless Headset

    Hello Leeraken,

Welcome to Xbox Forums. We appreciate for sharing your concern with us and we hope that you are doing well today.

To answer your question, Yes, you can use the Xbox Wireless Headset on your PC with both stereo audio and microphone. You can use either the headset’s 3.5mm cable option, Bluetooth option, or by using an Xbox Wireless USB dongle add-on for your PC. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows is a good option for you to use the proprietary connection protocol on your computer (on W10) instead of Bluetooth.

Regarding your bonus question, the “double tap to switch device” feature is available on the Xbox Wireless Headset. You can switch between two devices that are connected to the headset by double-tapping the pairing button.

You may visit and check this article for more details and information. Xbox Wireless Headset FAQ | Xbox Support.

To connect your Xbox Wireless Headset to your PC, you can follow these steps:

    1. Be sure that both the headset and console are powered on.
    2. Press and hold the green power button on the headset (located on the back of the left earcup) for 4 seconds.
    3. Press the Pair button on your console (this is the same button you use to pair a wireless controller with your console).
    4. When the headset and console connect with each other, you’ll hear a tone.
    5. Alternatively, you can connect the headset to your PC using Bluetooth 4.2+ or through the Wireless Adapter for Windows (sold separately). You can also use the headset’s 3.5mm cable option.

We hope this was able to clear up any confusion this might have caused.

If you have other clarifications, you can get back to us by replying to this post.

We will be glad to follow up and help you.

    Kind regards,

Series X ANY Bitstream audio lag (TV, receiver, whatever)?

The audio latency with Xbox Wireless Headset and others using the same fragile protocol is laughable and a real shame imo. Had to switch to stereo uncompressed and plug my old wired headphones into my monitor's shabby phone jack in order to play Rocksmith with just bearable latency. Headset plugged to controller is just as bad as anything Xbox Wireless (which also develops massive signal degradation/pulsing distortion every few minutes.

I really hope some manufacturer brings HDMI 4k/60 audio extractors that are VRR capable to market one day. TBH, Microsoft should actually go ahead and do just that in order to fix their mess.
