A50s

Hi.

Just bought my first Xbox ever. I have ASTRO A50s that I've used on PS3 through PS4. What do I need for party chat to work. On PS4 you don't need any chat cables its just simply the USB to power the mixamp and the optical cable. Do I need a chat cable?

Your best bet is probably the Astro A40s, those are probably the very best gaming headsets on the market at the moment. The A50s, although more expensive, actually have worse specs. The A40s reach an upper frequency of 28,000Hz while the A50s only reach
20,000Hz. That's where a lot of your audio fidelity comes from, on top of having good quality drivers. The bass response on the A40s are also better according to reviews. They'll probably end of doing a new version of the A50s in 2013.

It looks like you do need a chat cable (2.5mm) as well as the Xbox One Stereo Adapter (which comes with the 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable).

If you have the newest controller (3.5mm audio jack built in), then you'll need a 2.5mm cable as well as a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable to plug it into your ASTRO A50s.

 

I don't believe it's possible for him to have the "newest controller" with the built-in 3.5mm jack at the moment. That controller won't be out until October. Much to my dismay. Paddles >>> bumpers IMO

 

Whoops. Didn't realize the goofy looking "covert forces" controller had a 3.5mm jack as well as the upcoming elite one. Wish I could edit that post. Great first post, sounding like a *** lol

 

No worries, I had to do a little bit of searching before I replied to figure out if it was available or not.

 

Astro makes an Xbox one chat cable that fits specifically into the proprietary xbox one controller port, not sure if it is sold separately, but it is your best option
