1. A50 Headset on Xbox One, Game Audio comes in, Mic Chat out does not..

hey guys, I have a pair of Astro A50's and I have a weird sitch..

So, before I purchased these I purchased the Xbox Stereo Headset which came with the adapter and they were great. I decided to upgrade and realized that the chat adapter in order to use the A50's needed that Xbox Chat Cable Adapter..

I purchased a third party cable, a regular 2.5 mm to 2.5 mm cable and bought a adapter from Fry's to see if it works... and it didn't. From what Astro has told me they said any adapter or 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable should work (which I've tried and nothing happens)

Does anyone have some help on this before I have to shell out 25 bucks for another adapter just for their cable? Help!

:)

ASTRO A50(gen2) vs Turtlebeach Stealth 500X?

So, from my several hours of research watching Youtube videos and reading reviews on several online retailers, as well as my own experiences, I've come to the conclusion on the difference of these two headsets and their benefits over one another.

Astro A50:
- Better game audio quality.
- Better comfort.
- Worse mic chat quality.
- Still requires a chat adapter that connects to the controller to use the mic on Xbox One.

Turtlebeach Stealth 500X:
- Decent(?) game audio quality.
- Better mic chat quality.
- Completely wireless, does not require chat adapter to use mic on Xbox One.
- Bad, bad, bad, absolutely no comfort.

From my personal experience, I've never owned an Astro headset and have only tried them on at a friend's house, but right off the bat I could tell the comfort was absolutely worth it. The problem is, several Youtube videos that using the A50 to record, sound pretty bad. This is important, since the XB1 party chat quality improved drastically, and I would hate to sound like a tin robot, when my friends sound crystal clear with the headset that came with the Xbox One.

I did, however, own a Turtlebeach XP500 for PS3/Xbox360 last gen for 3 years and the game audio quality sounded great to me, and the mic quality is crystal clear. And they are completely wireless. The comfort, though, absolutely horrible. For the first few years, after about 2 or 3 hours of use the headset would begin to make my ears sore. My last year using it, I could only wear it for 10-15 minutes before my ears began to feel sore. The Stealth 500X are all of what I just said, and they're cheaper.

So it comes down to supreme comfort and game audio quality with the A50's, or TRUE wireless and supreme mic chat quality with the Turtlebeach Stealth 500X.

My biggest concerns are the mic quality on the A50's, and the level of comfort on the Stealth 500X, so I was hoping owners of both headsets could hop in here and chime in their opinions and experiences? I thought I learned my lesson that comfort is more important than quality, but it also bugs me just as much to know that I'll sound low quality when I talk to people in party chat(Astro A50).

3. How do I adjust chat/game volume on astros?

6) Select Bitstream format and then select Dolby Digital.

Configuring the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter

By default, the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter will output both game audio and voice audio which will render the mixer on the A50 Wireless Headset unusable. Follow the below steps to set the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter to only output voice audio which
will correct this.

1) Set the mixer on the A50 Wireless Headset to full voice audio. To do this, hold down the voice button on the A50 Wireless Headset until you hear two beeps. Two beeps is an indication that you have fully mixed towards either game or voice depending on
what button you was holding.

2) On the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, hold down the chat audio button until you hear a beep. At this point, you should only be able to hear voice audio from your Xbox One.

3) On the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, hold down the plus button until the voice audio no longer increases.

That's all that's to it! You will now be able to use the microphone from your A50 Wireless Headset on your Xbox One and the mixer will work as intended allowing you to mix between game audio and voice audio with ease. Should you have any further questions
regarding the A50 Wireless Headset and Xbox One, please feel free to post them on this thread and we'll respond as quickly as possible with an answer for you.

This seems to be the same for the Xo7 as well. My co worker said there is not even a volume control turn dial at all.

IMO this is not ok.

That copy paste is saying turn your game audio off to be able to adjust your voice volume.

5. hey, I have totally updated the controller, updated the firmware on the headset AND mixer. I am seriously thinking it's that stupid adapter that comes with the chat adapter. Astro has even received my headphones, evaluated them and said they worked on both
XBOX ONE and 360! They work fine on my PS4, mic works on there without any cables.. So it's just up to me spending 25 on a cable I think. A50 Headset on Xbox One, Game Audio comes in, Mic Chat out does not.. :(

6. bump, really would love to hear if anyone else has had this issue. I feel either stupid for not figuring it out, or completely lost why nobody else has had this problem.

ETA for the Chat Adapter & Dolby Digital update?

I have a pair of A40s, and there is absolutely no reason that the current MixAmp coupled with an Xbox One Proprietary audio --> 2.5mm audio wouldn't work to solve the problem. The major gaming headsets (A40s and A50s for example) are already compatible with
game audio via optical out on the Xbox One, and are capable of adjusting the game volume. However, the mic and/or the chat audio is not able to be toggled solely because of the lack of a 2.5mm input on the Xbox One controller.

So yeah, $15 sounds about right to me.

Is the tritton warhead compatible
If the cable imput is only for audio then there would be absolutely no way for the mic to work on the headset to begin with.
The physical boom mic, or the chat audio?

This question/conversation is not about the physical boom mic, it's about the chat audio.
That said, there's no reason that the headset should work but not the mic, except maybe the protocols.
It's the wireless
protocol that won't work.

See
this wireless headset
? The only thing this wireless headset does is handle chat conversations between other Xbox Live members. You don't get regular game audio through it. To function, the wireless headset pairs with the 360 console and runs over the same
wireless protocol as 360 controllers. Tritton integrated the functionality of that wireless headset into their own. The Warhead's base station has a pairing button, just like the wireless headset. The base station takes care of mixing the chat audio and the
game audio, but without that pairing to the 360 there's no way to get chat audio into the base station.

Microsoft explicitly stated that the wireless protocol between the Xbox One and its accessories is different than the protocol used by 360 accessories. Because the wireless headset uses these same protocols, it won't work on the Xbox One. By extension, the
wireless pairing that the Warhead does with the 360 console won't work with the Xbox One console.

The Tritton Warhead is a headset designed for use only with the Xbox 360. Without a 360 console, it becomes a regular set of headphones, rendering the boom mic useless. If all you want to do is listen to game audio, that's not a dealbreaker.
If you want to talk to other gamers in realtime, you're looking at buying a new headset.

Astro? Turtle Beach? Their wireless headsets will work with the Xbox One, including their mics, because they all currently plug into the 360 controller for chat audio. The controller handles the wireless link to the 360 for the chat audio, but from the audio
port on the controller to the headset is all bog standard 2.5mm headset territory. MS is working on an adapter to allow older 360-compatible headset cables to attach to the new Xbox One controller, again allowing headsets to piggyback on the controller for
chat audio. The Warhead? Out of luck. No cable, no piggyback.

It's this tight coupling to the 360's wireless protocol for chat audio that caused me to ignore the Warhead's development and shipment to market. As soon as I saw that it was bound to the 360, I said this is going to end badly for a $300 headset. My Astro
A40s with a Mixamp 5.8? My friend's Astro A50s? They'll both be fully functional with the Xbox One.
