A Warning to Future Design Lab Controller Buyers

This is a warning to anyone one that thinks about buying a Microsoft Design Lab Controller.

I have purchased 2 design lab controllers, and in both cases I have treated the, with the utmost respect. Yet with both of them I have had them working just fine when I log off, only to log on the next time, put my headset on and hear absolutely no audio from
them. Not with a chat mixer pad and not with the aux port. They just spontaneously broke basically overnight.
The
first, bought 12/30/2016 spending ~$86.95 (with tax). Worked just fine no complaints once so ever. Then suddenly on 1/28/2018, 13 months after getting it, this exact problem as described above,
occurred. After 3 days of being passed between 9 people between Xbox and Microsoft support agents who had obviously no idea what to say or do, until I finally got in touch with a supervisor who didn't read from a script, I was told that, my Xbox's One OG (have
had it since the launch date of the original Xbox One) warranty was long expired and my controller warranty was expired so I had no choice but to buy another one, even though I wasn't even touching it when it decided to break. So 2/2/2018 I decided to use
all my saved Microsoft points to get my
second Design Lab Controller, in the end spending only $0.14 out of a ~$101 (with tax). Now
as of 5/4/2019, 14 months after buying it, the same issues has occurred with this controller. It is also worth noting that, while I did adapt to it, this second controller, from day 1, had been slightly slower than normal with input relay time than normal.
It was enough to notice but not enough to affect my overall gaming. As stated, I have done nothing treat both controllers with but the utmost respect. Because I'm still using my same original Xbox One and it has been longer than the last time, I am not even
bothering with going about the ridiculous long, drawn out process of contacting support only to be told that I must buy another controller when I have already spent nearly $200 in total value.

Now realistically speaking there is really no reason for either of my controllers to have broken, Especially not over night when not even in use. I also find it to be a bit more than coincidental that both controllers have broken within just over a year
of buying them and in the exact same way. I also know I'm not the only person to have Design Lab Controllers that has had problems. I have seen lots and lots of forms and other posts online talking about Design Lab Controller. I'm not expecting anything to
change or for Microsoft/Xbox to do anything more than completely ignore this. I simply hope to caution anyone looking to buy a design lab controller.
