A/V Audio Adapter and HDMI cable problem (won't work at the same time!)

    Hello Xbox Support.

I have been playing Xbox 360 with speakers since I know of, and recently I've bought a Turtle Beach headset. Since I have an Xbox 360 Elite, the regular 360 Audio adapter doesn't fit, and I had to buy a new, thinner audio adapter. This is not an official
Microsoft one, but it seems to work just fine. The problem is, when I plug in the A/V audio adapter, the HDMI output on my screen disappears, and turns into a black screen. I don't know what kind of problem this is, but once I plug A/V with HDMI, no screen
    output is achieved.

Please may I have a rapid response to this, as I paid good money for the headset and the adapter, and I don't want it to go to waste.

PS: This is on a full HD monitor. and there are no problems without the A/V with output.

    Kind regards,

    Kevin () <- Gamertag

    :)

Audio is looping and no video hdmi

You should purchase the thin A/V HDMI audio adapter cable. The 360 is not designed to allow for a conventional AV cable and an HDMI cable to be attached at the same time.

    Rocksmith cabling flaw??

Hi actually it's not a flaw, the A/V cable is designed that way to stop you having both the HDMI and A/V cables connected at the same time. You would need to buy the Digital Audio adapter.

Hi Davemcfly85, I have it. When I plug the A/V Audio adapter in (what you just linked me) the monitor goes blank and the console restarts.

    Please reply back thanks.

sorry I do not have a 360 at the moment so I cannot even try to duplicate what you are experiencing, I would try contacting support either by phone or twitter/chat.

By "regular Audio adapter" you must mean the Audio/Video adapter...? It sounds like your third party audio adapter is not wired correctly, so the Xbox 360 is seeing it as an A/V adapter. Since you can't have two video cables connected at the same time,
the HDMI output won't work at the same time.

Since Microsoft is no longer selling the combo pack of HDMI cable & audio adapter, I think your only option is to return the audio adapter you bought and try a different third party version.

(The 360 Elite I bought in 2007 came with the official Microsoft audio adapter, and it fits alongside the HDMI cable. Did they stop bundling that at some point?)

It is similar to this one:

    www.ebay.co.uk/.../320862890929

It is in the Turtle Beach X12 video setup thingy, and it's supposed to work. I have no idea why I'm plugging it in A/V.

What do you mean by "Fits alongside the HDMI cable"?

Bump. Is it the audio adapter problem (faulty)? Or is it because two video cables are plugged in at once?

How do I deal with it? That's what it said on the Turtle Beach manual.

    Setting up headset

Actually, what I did was use HDMI to my HDTV for video, and use the a/v cable the came with the 360 for audio. I'm not sure if the adapter that's sold amazon has it, but the tab I mentioned is actually on the a/v cable that came with the console.

So if you have the a/v cables, you won't need an adapter! Just cut off the tab that's on the a/v cable. I now have the HDMI going to my TV, and the a/v(red/white) cable going to my Logitech F540.

    HDMI port + AV Port

You should indeed be able to use the audio adapter and hdmi cable at the same time, you're not connecting the audio adapter with the console powered on are you?
