A Simple Call to Action: Achievement Reform

Are you posting on a different account to the one your"sick of beating games" on??

From what i can see you have only beat one game.

I like the idea of having new achievements on games WITHOUT having to buy DLC for it.

The whole point of new achievements is to refresh the game, weeks after you finished playing it.

All achievements are trivial, they are a bit of fun.

What company does migration?

I can think of one that doesn't require you to make an new account

Even then you are required to have a in region creditcard

iTunes

It's not a backwards policy it's a very very common policy

Most online subscription service allows migration due to possible fraud

Wow , any Sony service Any ISP for that matter don't support migration

Nor does any mmorpgs

Netflix isn't migratable

You would have to sign up on Netflix.com

Netflix.ca isn't the same as Netflix.com the content is completely different and the accounts are completely seperate

I went thru the Netflix account settings and FAQ there are no options to move an account

 

I just recently bought an xbox one, so that's why that's the case... Sunset Overdrive I will have beaten in probably 2 days (I got it in the mail last Saturday and have been kind of just enjoying the game). I just feel like achievements should be tied to
a legitimate step of progression, or at least a legitimate challenge (similar to the first 1000 points - there are no issues there).

From what I can tell, the achievements they're "challenging" people with weeks after the game is out are not exactly challenging. Even Sunset Overdrive's "challenges" are things that you could do the first week you have the game (example: get a combo of
500+). The Community Challenges are something that you can actually disregard because if you don't get it then no one else did either (kind of wish progress would track with these, but it doesn't, and that's a separate issue)... But the Solo Challenges - there's
no reason I should have to wait to achieve a combo of 500+ when I have already gone past 850. I just don't see the reason that I should have to wait x amount of weeks to get points for something I've already achieved. It makes no sense =/ It doesn't bring
new life to the game or anything. Achievements aren't serving the function they're supposed to.

 

It does breathe new life into the game, as you are playing it again weeks after you "beat it".

So you have only beat one game?, i have "beat" about 30, i would love a bunch of new achievements on those games to get me playing them again.

 

They last for about a week and then go away - they don't stay there. It's not "new" if you've already done it. Not sure how you guys don't understand that, but, whatever I guess. It's not like "Oh my god, this achievement is here?!?!?!?! WOW I TOTALLY WANNA
PLAY AGAIN."

It's more like "Oh. I should maybe do that... I guess... Even though all it is gonna be is a grind and a totally boring use of an hour of my time."

Then why on earth are you doing it?????????

If its a boring grind for no results, and those achievements/challenges just go away a week later, just ignore them and play another game.

Achievements are just for fun, you are taking them way to serious.

 

What you're describing are challenges, not achievement. They are only limited time things, and don't count towards any completion percentages. You do have the choice not to do them.

 

^^Okay so I am not completely crazy and came to the same conclusion as you Zen.

Challenges are just additional side stuff you can do. Either do it, or don't. Stop worrying about them and play games to have fun.

 

You cant just simply ignore achievments cause thats anothere unfinished game. If you really are a gamer, you try to get everything there is in the game including achievments!

We are ignoring the problem. We're saying that there is no problem in the first place in order to ignore. If you chose not to do a challenge, the only thing that will happen is that challenge will disappear. No record of the fact that you never got it
will appear on your gamercard. Your completion percentage isn't going to change. It will just be gone forever.

Conversely, if you do chose to the challenge, then all you'll doing is pursuing another objective in the game. The pure nerve of these game companies, wanting to put more longevity in their games. How dare they want to try to give the games more value
for money. That's such a big problem.

 

If you're really a gamer you'll enjoy your game and not try to do what the developers tell you to. Strangely, Multiplat games? I'll go for a platinum trophy but not care about 1000/1000

 

If you believed everything the game told you then you'd be eating Pork Buns every day because "Sleeping Dogs" told us that "The man who doesn't eat a Pork Bun is never a real man".

Don't let achievements define your sense of self worth.
