It appears as though it does NOT. Instead the windows store version has Easy Anti-cheat.

Yes, the error code 88500000 is related to Denuvo DRM, and for what I searched some users in steam are also getting the same issues.

This DRM requires you to be online for the first authentication and periodic re-authentication and also has a per machine installation limit. Those .codefusion links are typical for it and means something gone wrong with the authentication/re-authentication.

In the past there was also cases where their certificate on the DRM Server was outdated or which prevented legitimate consumers to play their games. The same also happens if their Server is down or the user has no Internet or has issues while it tries to re-authenticate.

It also has been proven that the DRM causes various performance lose like longer startup time, less FPS, stutter and worse things like crashes and whatever, mostly because of its binary protection that runs potions of the game trough VMs which obviously can't
be good for performance.

Try to uninstall and install it again and be sure you are fully online when you are executing the game.

Thanks for the confirmation. But I have tried those steps a few times already with no luck. I don't seem to have these issues with steam games using Denuvo.

I think it's just another case of Denuvo screwing over legitimate users. Annoying thing is the game was cracked in 4 days letting pirates play without issues while I'm here unable to play.

Does anyone know if cracking Denuvo on a legitimate copy breaks any laws or eula's?

Are you using an integrated graphics card, or do you have a separate installed GPU? Could you also check what version of DirectX is on your PC: Which version of DirectX is on your PC? Also are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11?
