A question about Xbox 360 game discs and the Xbox One

Hello everyone, apologies if this is the wrong section to post this article.

I am trying to get the Xbox One, and i have a question about the Xbox 360 game discs.

So, if i have for example have a physical copy of a game and i put it on the One does it get attached to my profile? as in what happens to digital copies of games, would i be able to get the game even after inserting the disc once without needing the disc
itself, or does it work like normaly, as in you need to have the disc in the tray in order to play the game, i might have some issues with bad discs that i might not be able to use again, i would like to know if this is possible or not.

    :)

  2. Xbox One Discs Sometimes Won't Read - Repeatable scenario!

I'm having this problem too, but only with Xbox 360 discs, Xbox One discs are read instantly, but I have to keep ejecting the 360 discs and reinserting them about 20 times before they read, it's getting very annoying now

    Hiya,

You'd need to keep your Xbox 360 in order to play any sort of Xbox 360 content (game discs, games on demand, xbox live arcade titles, etc). Your profile can co-exist on both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One so if you wish to earn some achievements or simply go
play that game you can do so on the Xbox 360 console.

The Xbox One will only play Xbox One game discs, games on demand discs, as well as Xbox LIVE Arcade titles that have been released on the Xbox One.

  4. A question about Xbox 360 game discs and the Xbox One

    Hello Devil Ownpag,

You appear to have answered several of your own questions regarding Backwards Compatibility (BC). BC works in two ways:

    1) If you previously purchased a 360 title that is on the BC list from the Xbox 360 Marketplace, then that digital title carries over to the Xbox One. You will just have to check your My Games and Apps > Scroll to Games > and then scroll right to Ready to
Install to view the available digital downloads of games that are available to you.

    2) If you own physical copies of the game (discs) you will need to insert that disc every time you want to play that specific BC title. When you insert the disc for the first time, your console will prompt you to download the game to your hard drive, allowing
the console to play the 360 title. It does not allow you to then download a digital version of the game. You must have the physical copy inserted.

So for a brief recap: You can either have digital licenses from previous purchases from your Xbox 360 OR you play with a physical copy of the game. Make sure to check out the Full FAQ for Backwards Compatibility on the Xbox One here,

    Hope this post helped!

I think the best question would be, if i own a physical copy would i be able to get a digital one, but nevermind about that, anyways, thanks for clarifying it, so i guess if any of my discs are in bad condition, eventually i will have to purchase a digital
    copy i believe.

Buying Disc and Digital Of Same Game Question

    [quote user="StuartATrueRed"]

Yeah you would have to redownload the game, as the disc based game would ask you to insert the disc. So the answer to your question is yes you would have to delete the installed game and then redownload the digital version if you wish.

Are you talking about the Xbox One or Xbox 360?

Console Refuses to Acknowledge New Vegas Disc

    Sorry about your problem there.

When you try other discs that work, are these 360 discs or Xbox One game discs?

Do you own any other 360 disc games and they work?

I ask this because 360 discs are DVD discs and Xbox games are on Blu-ray. There is a separate laser for reading DVD discs in the console.

    Please let us know.
