    A question about Accessory Warranties


    Not sure if this is the right place to put this or if this has been asked, but I heard that if your xbox one messed up you can request for a new one and Microsoft will put your account on hold for the amount of the one but you can keep your original one
    while you wait, does this all work the same way with controllers, headsets, and the Kinect sensor? My controller has been experiencing hiccups as of late where the battery life indicator is broke and my controller completely freezes and becomes unresponsive
    even though the power light is still on. I have been told many things mostly by the community on how to fix it but so far nothing has worked. I asked a lady in the support chat room how to fix it and she acted as if this issue wasn't even known and told me
    to try to power cycle; she said if that didn't work I would need to send my controller in to get a new one. This issue occurred after updating my controller when I bought my xo7's, I am completely fine getting a new one through warranty I just don't want to
    send mine in right away, it still works most of the time but as I said it has hiccups from time to time, like two or three times a night it freezes. It's my only controller and I would like to keep it while I wait for my new one, because I would be pretty
    bored at night without some games to play! If anyone can answer this I will be very grateful!

    I would like to send it in before the end of March just incase my accessory warranty runs out.

    Xbox Accessories (and a controller is considered an accessory) have 90 warranties. I'm afraid you can't get it repainted

    If you are in the UK dont bother.

    Microsoft have a disgusting policy of making you send accessories at your own expense to the Czech Republic before they send a replacement. This is even if you have a warranty.

    For the amount of money it costs to post a parcel to Czech and the hassle of waiting you might as well just buy a new controller.

    If you are in america though you should contact support because they may have better customer service there.

    If you want to send your pad you can but you will be without a pad for a few weeks and i think you have to pay for the shipping.

    My day one pad is on its way out so i plan on sending it for repair so i went and brought a new pad

    That way you can still play wile your other pad is off being fixed.

    The only accessory I've seen an extended warranty for is Kinect.



    Ideally, you should buy a 250GB or 320GB console. Then it's covered under the console warranty and any extended warranty added to the console.



    I've purchased six accessory HDDs over the years (three 120GB, two 250GB, one 320GB). So far, they're all still ticking. Best thing I can suggest is use the HDD for the first month or so at least every few days. That'll help get you past the initial failure
    rate.

    None that I know of. Best option I can think of would be to go third-party and purchase a contract from someone like SquareTrade. Never actually used them before, but perhaps someone here can vouch for them (or against them, take your pick.)
