A problem with Xbox app downloading uninstalled games on its own on pc

I've had the same problem with 2 pcs now, the second one is just out of the box and was freshly patched up.

I'm getting error 0x80040154 on almost all the games at download. Update troubleshooter detects no problems, I've used powerconsole to uninstall and reinstall the xbox for PC app and games services. No help.

Since I've had this with 2 pcs, it makes me think its not THAT rare a problem.

When you cancel a update before its fully completely updated and installed, the console will delete the game as some updates to the game are at the core basic level of said game. What this means is core game files are updated to reflect/add the new content.
If the new content while being installed gets corrupted to power disconnect or Power reset, or user stopping it, It will re-download the entire game.

I know you probably dont want to hear this but its always best to allow any game updates to finish 100% before trying to play the game.

While it may have shown 100%, it may have still been in the "finalizing" stage of the download while in que.

hello, sorry this happened to you but heres a little lesson to learn and take it from me as i’ve done the same thing you’ve done, NEVER cancel the installation because if it doesn’t confirm/finish installing and you get the notification saying “ready to
start” it’s not finished so it will cancel the download entirely if you cancel it.

unfortunately, you will have to redownload the entire game and update again but hey, at least you will know what to do next time.

So I just updated war zone for season 3 and it said it was 100% done. So I CANCELLED the installation and the whole game uninstalled. 106GB uninstalled on its own. Why did this happen?

So was the update 106gb? Not the 14gb it said?

I had everything up to date until this latest season drop, so when I went to download the third season, it said 106gb. Which I think we can all agree is rather absurd lol
