1. A possible fix for 0x91d7000a Blu-Ray/DVD read errors

Hi! Long-time XBLG member, first time contributor to the forums. I just ran into an issue that very nearly caused me a full-on panic. It's resolved now, but the fix in my case was so strange, does not appear in any of the "how-tos" and was unknown to the
Microsoft rep I spoke to, that I thought it might be of benefit to someone if I shared it, hopfully sparing some of you the stress and anxiety that I experienced (I had feared I was looking at having to buy a whole new console!)

Some of you may encounter the following error message when trying to play Blu-Ray or DVD discs:

"Disc Stopped. Make sure your TV's HDMI input supports HDCP rights management. (error 0x91d7000a)"

As has been said on here before, this HDCP rights management is basically a "handshake" between your Xbox and your TV. Why a handshake is needed is a mystery to me, but whatevs. It is what it is. So, if you've tried all the tricks on the Xbox side of the equation,
cleaned the disc, full-rebooted your console, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, adjusted power settings and all that jazz, then try this.......turn your TV off, and back on again. In my case, that's all it was and it IMMEDIATELY started working.

Now, my TV is about as old as 1080 HD LCD TVs get, it's a 2005 Philips, and I really suspect this is a lot less likely to be the problem on newer sets. But nevertheless, when you've done everything else, before banging your head against the wall, throwing your
xbox across the room, pouring yourself an unscheduled "emergency scotch", or dissolving in a pool of tears, this might just be a super easy solution that's "hiding in plain sight".

    All the best!

    :)

Will the HD DVD xbox360 drive work on the X1?
It makes absolutely no sense why an Xbox One would play DVDs and Blu-Ray's and not play HD DVDs.
HD DVD and Blu-ray are formatted differently on the disc. Blu-ray players cannot read HD DVDs and vice versa. The exception being
multi-format drives designed to read both (I have two).

Beyond the physical inability to read an HD DVD in a Blu-ray drive, there's the issue of software. HDi Interactive Format was the standard used to create HD DVD menus and other content on-disc outside of the actual movie files. Blu-ray uses scripts and Java.
Unless playback software can understand HDi Interactive Format, HD DVD menus won't work and the disc won't play.

If it was possible for Blu-ray players to play HD DVD, people wouldn't be holding onto HD DVD drives.

    Where is XB1 Going?

^^No you cant just pop a disc in and play. Its because of the read speed of the blu ray drive. Had MS went with a DVD it would be possible but its blu ray so installing is a must. And its overall better for the disc drive.

Xbox One X only reads XB1 game dvds

    Hi,

The optical drive in the Xbox One is a Blu-ray drive. Xbox One discs are on Blu-ray disc, same as HD Blu-ray movies. Xbox 360 games came on DVD disc.

Oversimplifying my explanation a little, the Xbox One has separate lasers for reading DVD discs than it does for reading Xbox One blu-ray discs.

The laser that is used to read DVD's has failed. This isn't a software issue, it's a hardware one. Unfortunately you can't fix this yourself, you'll need your console repaired. Sorry.
